What is the problem with talking with a ref or “complaining so much” when the play is stopped? Is there any reason whatsoever for him to stop that? It’s when he doesn’t get back on defense while the play is still live that it is a problem. Play is stopped = complain as much as he wants.

I remember how people flew in to our country to watch him specifically in the last FIBA and in their last game he essentially stopped playing and just feuded with the refs. It was insanely uncomfortable to watch.

Do you realize how many times a game the lakers play 4v5 on defense because Luka is complaining to a ref on the other side of the court? I remember watching a game last year and I counted 7 times he left his team a man down. Of those 7 times, the opponent scored 4 baskets. The lakers went on to lose by 6 points. The dude is never gonna figure it out

is it just me or is it weird that a player talking normally and arguing his stance on a call is more likely to get a tech than someone screaming at the refs… maybe i watched too many gsw games.

yea i’m not saying luka is innocent here, he may dropped some f-bombs or some slurs at the end. but it really seems weird when the player and the refs are having a calm discussion and then as the players is walking away he get t’ed up. and some player reactions i feel are justified like wtf was that. but some players would scream right to their face and get nothing.
It could just be given the context of everything going on around them, that the ref has fully explained himself, multiple times, and luka, indeed being very calm, has continued on asking “but why tho,” and the ref has decided that hes offered the explanation and luka won’t let it go and so hes going to get a tech. Essentially delaying whatever else the ref needs to go do because luka won’t give up until he rescinds the foul call is getting him a tech, not so much being loud or vulgar.

The league’s allowed for this environment. The refs suck but there should also be a next to no tolerance policy in the way the players interact with them. Any hostility should be met with a tech, that would quickly put an end to any of these ridiculous side shows.
The selling to refs or bickering with them is hurting the game.
When the rules are subjective and change from ref to ref, and sometimes even the same ref, it’s all about setting the level you and your team is judged. You develop a reputation of being physical, you will be judged on that level. But if you develop a reputation of being soft, the moment you start playing physical, it looks like your fouling everyone.
