My opinion on this really depends on if he let the guys roast him back like a roast actually works.

moonshadow50 | SAS

199 | 19 hours ago

Nah - I would disagree with this.

He is the owner of the company and has the power to fire every one of those people on the spot. This is a “punching down” situation, and really not on.

It is not a level playing field, and even if anybody had a problem with it, there are a ton of barriers to then making that known and you just have to laugh along.

And I would expect that, in the moment, Vivek would be willing to take digs back at himself. He seems like a guy who recognises the space for that. But I also don’t expect that any billionairre can get to that position with being an asshole to plenty of people along the way - and anyone “joking” at Vivek’s expense could very much risk it coming back to bite them somewhere down the line.

Nighta been talking shit about himself since he’s where the buck stops

moonshadow50 | SAS

32 | 19 hours ago

But then you just talk shit about yourself, and let them talk shit about you and each other.

You don’t talk shit about your employees.

Sure, there’s room for a little bit of banter in these relationships. But if someone has leaked to Zach Lowe then they clearly saw it as more than that.

Any_Scientist_7313

0 | 17 hours ago

Yep…dont know what he said but seems like a weak way of airing out his grievances, blaming others, but “ha ha its just a roast”.

Been on the receiving end of this before, at my “farewell party” no less… boss and one of his stooges started the roast, but no one continued it. A couple friends used the mic to share good memories instead and turned it into some much more meaningful for me. Really appreciate those guys.

But yeah, thats what a weak, insecure, unaware “leader” does. Kisses up, but punches down. So glad I left.

It’s got to be weird for Kings fans because he’s as incompetent as Dolan, yet not an outright POS like Dolan or a cheapskate like Dundon.

km912 | SAC

134 | 19 hours ago

Yea he clearly cares about the team and the city. Has invested massively in downtown and totally revamped our downtown economy. If only he could just find someone competent and leave the basketball ops alone.

Downtown is a wasteland, what has been revitalized?

mr_suavecito | SAC

15 | 14 hours ago

He cares about the city? Based on what, that he invested in a basketball team and went half on a new arena? Vivek cares about his investment(s) increasing in value in said city. And that’s fine. He’s a businessman. But c’mon. He ain’t doing anything out of the kindness of his heart.

DOCO is dead on non event days, multiple anchor businesses have closed down in that area, K Street is zombie filled shell of what it was 25-30 years ago. Downtown isn’t booming. Maybe Midtown is. Or even a burb like Elk Grove or Roseville. But Downtown Sac is still massively underperforming its own potential

Vegetable-Tooth8463 | CHA

Wow, didn’t realize he’d done all that for the city. Is it true though that he’s the reason CWebb has distanced himself from the Kings?

All he has to do is what Dolan did. Hire smart people and stay the fuck out of the way.

He’s done a fantastic job on things not related to basketball, including some pretty tricky things with the arena and downtown. Unfortunately, has not translated to the actual product.

ShotgunStyles | SAC

He bought the team in 2013, way before the AI boom. He’s a tech bro but at that time, his wealth came from enterprise software. Nowadays most of his net worth comes from the Kings.

I hate the label of AI technology, like what’s Siri been for all these years? It’s lazy to call things ai and just hate them. Yeah people can use it for pointless garbage but technology has inherent benefits that failing to recognize will result in people left behind. We’re adaptive, after all

I can’t listen to Zach anymore lol

Maybe the best mainstream basketball analyst, loves the game, really thinks about it clearly, but maaannnn talks too much and never lets his guests get a word in.

I started the Steve Nash pod because Nash is a legend, smart, and well spoken, and Zach just goes on these rants where he’s listing off things and fake asking a question to Steve but then not even letting him answer.

Zach if you’re reading this you’re amazing but let your guests breath on the pods
