I would legitimately be mad if he didn’t feel this way.

Every single one of the top 10 players should think they are the best player. Listen to any of the greats and how they viewed themselves. Charles Barkley his entire career leading up to the 93 finals thought he was better than Jordan

This is exactly how a first team all NBA player and reigning MVP should genuinely feel and vocalize

Player awarded MVP thinks he’s the MVP… time to clutch our pearls!

Man people really hate Shai lmao

The fact that some of yall genuinely think hes gonna say “Nah, I dont think I’m very good you guys 🥺” is so damn funny lmao

exactly how he should feel

I mean, he’s the MVP, already a champion, and considered by many the best in the world. It’s either him, Jokic or Wemby.

Is there ever a player who admits another player is better?

Like seriously, I think this is the dumbest question to ask athletes. Who’s better? Of course they’re going to say themselves.

Guy was literally MVP why wouldn’t he think that?

Talk yo shit 😭🦾

If he was on your team, you would love him. Enjoy his time on the court instead of hating it.

Endless reminder how Clippers mess up

Yep, he has every right to feel this way. Same thing if Jokic, Giannis, or Luka said this.

He’s right. He has the numbers, he wins a lot, nobody really gives him off nights or can speed him up and he shows up in the clutch and is great on both ends. There’s not really much you can say that he doesn’t do to prove he’s the best unless you point to the foul baiting being lame, which is a pretty weak argument when Jokic has turned up his flopping in recent years and every other guy you’d put in that conversation has more identifiable weaknesses that hold them back from the domination of every part of a game we see from Shai every night and thus makes them more “stoppable.”

Just because Shai is number 1 doesn’t mean the league isn’t filled with a bunch of really great players too.

I mean… who’s better than him right now? I hate him but I think he’s right

Agreed.

Hot take

I would think someone who won MVP recently would and should feel this way.

Nothing burger

Ummm if best production and efficiency is the standard, it’s been Jokic ever year. The rationale for giving it to SGA has been the OKC regular season record.

Someone square that for me…

I’m not even really a fan of his, but this is exactly how he should feel.

This isn’t really newsworthy. A ton of players feel this way. At the very least, they feel like they’re the best in the NBA at some specific thing that they do well. You need an almost delusional amount of self-confidence to make it as a a pro athlete

He’s definitely up there, but when he’s not getting the whistle his efficiency falls off a cliff because he isn’t actively trying to make the shots he’s getting fouled on a lot of the time.

Yeah this is gonna go over well

best flopper in the world for sure lol

Helps to have the best supporting cast in the league spacing the floor on offence and smothering the other team on defence for you to help make those numbers easier. SGA is the most elite slasher and 2 pt popper in the league, possibly the best at that role since Jordan. That’s his super power. Hes not a top of the league playmaker, not an elite high volume contested 3pt shooter, not a lockdown defender (tho he is better than position avg). He is just in the perfect situation for his skillset to excel. Undoubtedly top 3 player but you could make compelling arguments for him or the other players in that tier.

⁸⁄₁₀ engagement bait🫡

Good to hear cause so many other players are just collecting checks.

Imma need him to beat my dad one on one first before I give him the nod.

Obviously this sub isn’t a monolith but it’s so funny how everyone freaked out that Jokic was ranked #1 by media outlets last week and how he didn’t deserve it

And now people here are upset Shai thinks he’s #1.

Very fair.

Between 2024-2026, Shai has a great argument for being the best player in the world

I get he should feel this way but I just hate him and his foul baiting and his stupid face and annoying game/style

Has anyone ever went Kendrick-Control verse on their “I’m the best” proclamation? Because these sheepish proclamations that they usually give are the furthest thing from newsworthy.

He’s in the convo no doubt, but I think if he was really the best they would’ve beat the spurs

Cuando el resto diga eso, gente especializada, ahí si. Que lo diga él, creo que viene bien cerca el halago.

“I let my game do the talking.”

He absolutely should feel that way

Translation: I have a damn good supporting cast around me that allows me show up drop 30 in 3 quarters and call it “efficiency” and chill while they handle the business.

Name me one other superstar who has had this luxury of siting out as many 4ths as Shai has had without their team blowing the lead like crazy.

He’s a great team merchant.

I mean it’s easy to have the best efficiency when all you do is flop and the refs call it your way lmao.

It’s a solid attitude to have, regardless of the fact he’s clearly not the best player in the world. I am.

Back to back MVPs so yes! Luka, Joker and Wemby are right up there too

Defense is 50% of the game, Shai. Are you the DPOY? No, you’re not.

The Thunder would trade him for Vic in 2 seconds

I mean, he is certainly the best at taking advantage of how the NBA implements foul calls and handles flopping. His style of play is disgraceful, but since the NBA rewards it, it works.

Tell me when he or any other player who’s asked this ridiculous question says someone else is the best player 🤦🏾.

Perfect response for this tired question.

Question you’d expect from a child

Damn right. SGA is definitely the best player in the world as his back to back MVPs have shown
