How excited were you in 2015 when Kristaps Porzingis first entered the league?
He was the chosen one to lead the Knicks to a new era… alas.
He’ll always a special place in my heart tbh, first Knicks draft pick of my lifetime that looked like he could be a superstar. That ACL injury ruined him in that regard
Man my saddest points in my Knicks fandom were when he injured his knee and when he was traded to the Mavs for scraps.
I was dreaming about a killer defensive lineup of Ntilikina, Porzingis and Robinson after he came back from his injury… But he never used the Knicks jersey ever again.
Dude I was so excited with that KP trade, I thought the Mavs had their core duo for years to come and would dominate. I figured Luka was good for 22 and 10 assists, KP fir 25ish and 10 rebounds. This was before Luka absolutely blew up as a scorer. It’s a shame they never really got to gel
Him getting traded created a domino effect that won yall a title at least
I guess, a domino effect of almost 10 years in the making.
“Who the fuck is Tingus Pingus” will always be one of my favorite videos.

I never heard of fuckin Lativia!
Ohh, that’s what he says. I always thought he said “Latina”, and I never understood why. Makes a lot more sense to mispronounce Latvia as Laativya.
My wife doesn’t follow sports whatsoever. Out of all active basketball players, she can probably just name LeBron and Steph. However, even she knows Tingus Pingus haha
My wife, who also doesn’t watch ball, knows Bogdan Bogdanovic, simply because she finds the first/last name combo hilarious.
Dick Tracy villain ass name
i never heard of fucking lativia
Neither have I. I did hear about Latvia, though.
Phil Jackson’s last good move
Phil was also why he asked to get traded 😂
As a Knicks fan I had scouted him heavily in the weeks before the draft and was super excited. Anybody remember the clip of him throwing down the dunk off the backboard at some nyc court under a bridge right before the draft? And his private Vegas workout? Seems like it was yesterday.
The first unicorn.
Honestly a legendary claim to have. Being the first guy where a term was birthed to describe not only an archetype but unique players in general
I don’t get this take. To me it’s KD. He was just the first to be referred to as The Unicorn cause he is borng af and has no other defining features. Might even be an argument for The Dream if we are gonna be nit picking assholes. ( i am)
Edit: i realize you meant he was the first to
Be referred to as such, no argument, wasn’t debating you, rather the conventional notion that he’s the first unicorn and not KD
i just remember that poor kid they showed crying when the knicks selected him
Dude went all Eren Yaeger and saw flashes of the future.
Elite comparison. Although he didn’t see far enough to witness a chip incoming
IDK he got booed at the Garden when the Knicks picked him…
I stayed up until like 3AM for the draft, crashed out hard when they announced KP. Fell in love with him real fast though. Melo taught him some post moves and he already had them down by the time game 1 came around. Absolute monster on putbacks too. He definitely could have been a tier 1 superstar in a timeline with no injuries.
2018 porzingis was a beast. He was a more refined version of Chet, especially on the offensive end.
Refined offensive Chet or Less Defensive Wemby?
Told a buddy of mine KP was going to be a 25pt, 12reb, 2blk guy. He laughed at me.
Then again, he also laughed at me when I told him 3 games into the Brunson era that this man would lead us to a championship one day.
Okay sure, what’s today’s lottery numbers?
3, 8, 11, 25, 32
The first Knicks/Hornets game in 2022 that went to OT I knew Brunson was going to be a star. I think that was like Game 4 or 5 of the season?
He was just making all the correct decisions, wasn’t fazed at all by the pressure, and it seemed nobody could guard him. Honestly before that game I was still not in love with the Brunson signing
I thought he was gonna be what Wemby is turning into. Still a good player but nowhere near what his ceiling was
I was reacting to some of those sketchy landings knowing whats coming
Every time that dude jumps up I hold my breath
I’m actually kind of shocked at how slow he is. People have said he’s really slowed down because of injuries and he was physical freak early in his career. I’m not sure he’s moving any slower now than he did then. Maybe he was a bit more aggressive, but he was so slow.
I was VERY impressed with him. He was the real deal. The injury hurt my soul.
Definitely thought that he was going to be next big thing. That second season he was showing crazy handles and shooting as a 7ft3 guy, thought of him as a skinnier version of Arvydas Sabonis ha.
But injuries just messed it all up for him
It felt so real, especially during that stretch of 30+ point games. For how much infamously we struck out with lottery picks, it was looking like this was going to be a grand slam.
He was supposed to be the prince that was promised. But then again, so was Stannis Baratheon.
The moment I heard tingus pingus I was hooked
Thats NBA champion Kristaps Porzingis to you.
I remember passionately arguing that he had a brighter future than KAT. Funny how things work out lol
He was dunking on dudes and it was fun. I dont usually get too high on rookies as ive seen most of them not live up
he was fearless near the rim for such a skinny big. imagine chet trying to yam like blake griffin.
Not as excited as his brother was.
I wasn’t exactly excited. I always worry guys who are that tall and skinny are just a bad fall away from being out for the season.
I’ll always have love in my heart for Tingus Pingus.
As a fellow European I was hoping he would do great, injuries ruined him
You mean Alabaster Ewing?
Tingus Pingus
Knicks were shit for so long…literally anything got us excited. Sad times….but now you can smile
I saw a highlight reel of him funking and knew this guy could ball.
Rookie Tingus Pingus was a legend. I was super hyped about him.
He was the ‘wemby’ unicorn of the time without the proven past wemby had. It was exciting. I had 2nd row seats to a game against the knicks and he was injured before the half.
I was pretty upset that Rob Hennigan told the world the Magic were gonna draft him and the Knicks took him and we ended up with Hezonja
