This line just doesnt feel right with basketball. If you go to an nba game there are a tons of breaks and they are filled with corny MCs talking into a mic and lazily thought up mini games. Fans who take part in the minigames on the court are stepping on the court with shoes that are dirty from being used outside, and also in general fans with courtside seats or even without courtside seats are allowed to walk on the court with their dirty shoes for some reason. Also fans of basketball in general dont exhibit the qualities of being romantizised by something, I’m not sure I even need to explain that. I get the context here is very wholesome and not related to the NBA, but if the nba is to be considered the face of basketball at all I dont see how someone can think the line you wrote legitimately feels right. It feels very forced.
