Let’s see how he feels the first night he’s trying to box out Jokic for a rebound

67% of rebounds in the NBA are uncontested rebounds.

After preseason tho, they may tell him not to just jump in there and get rebounds. Some teams focus on getting in guarding position, some on streaking out early, and a lot of them just ask you to get the rebound when it’s in your area.

He plays against Clingan tonight. The guy who led the league in total and offensive rebounds.

Eh - there’s an awful lot of laziness in the NBA even in regular season games. You see it literally all the time on rebounding effort.

College is different because the coach will bench a player if he isn’t working his ass off for the little things.

Literally playing the lakers 3rd stringers lol

He just means relative to the competition. It’s no different than your own Payton Pritchard saying it’s [easier to score in the NBA than in college](

https://youtube.com/shorts/bs5Kv8mx7FE), which I’m sure you had no comment for. However look at the tape. It’s right there and he says it the same way Yaxel says it in regards to rebounding. Both didn’t bring up the skill level of the opponents in their answer either.

However Payton is right because relative to the competition, the rules make it way easier to score. This has been echoed by Trae Young, who said the same thing about it being easier to score in the NBA than in college. It has been said by Luka and Giannis, who said it’s easier to score in the NBA than Euroleague.

When players make this comment, context is key. No one is saying the players are worse in the NBA. All of them are talking about it relative to the context of the rules and playstyle, relative to competition.

This is who he is. You can go back to any interview he’s ever done and he’ll give a sound bite like this. If he has media training he ignores it

Nah let him talk it’s nice to get genuine thoughts even if he falls flat in his face later lol

Yeah, he’s got a point in that the NBA game is much more spaced out, but I have a feeling he’s going to get a few rebounds stolen early on in the regular season by those quick little guys coming out of nowhere and surprising him.

Too bad Shaq isn’t playing anymore. He would teach him a lesson!

He must think the Warriors are up 3-0 in the Finals.

Vs the corpse of Looney of all too lol

Seriously saying this during pre-season as a 24-year-old rookie shows how dumb he is

Not to mention, a lot of teams run in transition because of their superior athletes

Yes but you’re also playing hungry players trying to stick on a roster.

And unlike college more than 1-2 players on the court can make a jump shot. You get to pack the paint more in college.

The Michigan-UConn championship made my eyes bleed.

Maybe, but what hes saying is pretty true. If you have his size and your main goal is to grab boards you can get a ton of them easy. But thats because getting back on D is usually going to be a larger net positive than constantly contesting rebounds

That’s… kind of the fuckin point lol. More and more teams are running guys at the 5 who would have been wings a decade ago. And the true 5s are focusing less on traditional big man skills, which makes rebounding a lot easier. Steven Adams said something very similar last year when he was asked about his historic offensive rebounding numbers.

Also, Jackson is a center and always has been a center. Mamu has always been a ⁴⁄₅.

He’s not single?

how often is he going go play against Steven Adams? and how many minutes does Steven Adams actually play?

Many players think it’s easier to score in the NBA than in college. Payton Pritchard said it was easier to score in the NBA than in college and Derrick White nodded in agreement. That’s on tape and you can find it. So it isn’t just superstars like Luka as when Pritchard said that comment, he was just a great sixth man.

Most people aren’t saying players are better in other leagues. They are talking more about the rule differences and playstyle. Yaxel’s mistake is how he said it and when he said it. He’s right in terms of the rule differences and playstyle but worded it terribly, chose a terrible time to say it in the preseason, and probably didn’t explain the major reasons why. It just comes off as super arrogant.

Jokic gonna end that man’s whole career 🤣

He was like that in college. In a post game Mr 24-year-old senior said he felt disrespected being guarded by a freshman.

And funnily enough, one of the only teams Michigan lost to last season was Duke, led by the best player in the country, a freshman.

Tbf that cockiness might go in his favor if what he says ends up being true otherwise he’d just look like an idiot

Hey come on now, this is what we used to love about old school players

Bold of you to think any team is going to need bulletin board material to beat these Warriors. And I say that as a Dubs fan.

Who cares if the rookie is cocky? This shit only matters to online losers who care more about keeping receipts than watching hoops. Lame ass

So the Warriors are making the playoffs? Good news!

This is kind of the point, tho. The NBA is full of lazy rebounders, until it’s the playoffs or the 4th quarter in a close game in the regular season. You can’t watch a full, regular season NBA game and honestly tell me otherwise

That helps his point…

He must think the Pistons are in the West

Same. I low key love the unfiltered players its hilarious 😆

Yeah, it’s just the spacing. NBA floors are incredibly spaced out.

So he’s right…
