Honestly pretty damn normal for this to happen in preseason. Bench guys are playing for minutes, starters are playing to warm up for the season and not get injured
Nothing low key about it. Pels played all of their starters and backups, OKC was missing 10 of their 15 regular season roster including all of their starters and most backups and still beat the crap out of us. We’re the most pathetic franchise in the nba

When I watched his tape, the thing that stuck out to me was his need of conditioning. I thought he had fundamental skill. The Final Four games really showed and highlighted that. He really improved at Michigan in the 2nd half of the year. He just looked like he didn’t have conditioning at times. If he’s running the floor and making his way back down the floor with good movement, that makes everything different in OKC. Mara could play 20 minutes a night and bring great impact in year 1, if his conditioning looks like it does tonight.

You don’t need a big wing if you are going to play 2 “bigs”. If you are going to play Chet and J will alongside Hart, Mara and Sorber that is plenty of rim protection and rebounding. Caruso and J dub play like big wings too. J dub’s arms are so long he has an average PFs standing reach
Sorber might also be a big X-factor. Guy has the same arm length as Chet and Aday. And nobody knows what he’s going to look like, but it’s unlikely he hasn’t been developed at all since being drafted.

Yeah I love both guys as players. Yaxel doesn’t fit OKC from a personality standpoint. He’s really immature, so I’m sure Presti was happy they passed on Aday who is a perfect fit culture wise for OKC and gives them a shot to move off I hart to resign Cason next year. They are already at \(238m in salaries even with \)0 allocated to Cason for next season. I hart is scheduled to make $25m next season

Maybe, maybe not. Mara at least gives you an elite skill/advantage that is not replicable by 99% of the league. You can’t teach size. Mara could be a dud, but so could Yaxel. Time will tell. At the very least Mara has already shown to be putting in the work. His conditioning is very noticeably improved and he is running the floor much better than he was in summer league. He’s got a ways to go but seems to be on the right track.
Yaxel was the guy on that Michigan team. It’s true you can’t teach size but yaxel is pretty tall and lengthy himself, plus he can shoot the ball. They provide different things so it’s not he easiest to make the comparison but the only knock against yaxel is that he’s an older prospect and his personality can be grating to some.
Don’t be sad. This guy isn’t doing anything to stop or slow down Wemby, okc still won’t get past the spurs.
