I think it goes poorly but in a predictably boring manner. Embiid will miss a ton of games, LeBron will rest so much and miss a couple weeks with an inevitable ankle roll, the team will give up a billion points a gameā¦ and they limp into the play-in tournament only to get smoked in the first round.

Forget mid-season. First stretch where Bron/Embiid both sit will tell you exactly what their ceiling is.
If adding Jaylen Brown to Maxey/VJ doesn’t get you to a comfortable 4th seed or better, you’re gonna be running Bron/Embiid into the ground come playoff time just to keep up.
Their defense is also suspect to me; Bron is a wash at best now on that end with the grind of the regular season, Embiid needs to play at minimum 65+ games for a top defense, and you can hunt mismatches with their guards (although VJ is a dog).
If Embiid wasn’t so injury prone and didn’t act like a big baby - I’m bias, but still - when he gets desperate, I’d say they should be title favorites. With those issues, along with Lebron being old and also beginning to succumb to his injuries, I just don’t see them being able to play consistently enough, for as long as they would be required, to win it all.
I think Brown can fs be the glue to keep things together while the others are inevitably down and out but idk if it will be enough for how competitive the East is going to be this year.

I’m not necesarily gonna go there. Lebron’s gravity and ability to playmake will prove to be crucial, especially down the stretch in games. Even if he doesn’t score 10-12 points in the 4th quarter, he has VJ, Maxey, and Jaylen Brown to carry the scoring load. Embiid being another scoring threat in down the stretch of a playoff series would be an incredible bonus at this point.

Not really. Would depend on the return tbh and I wouldn’t expect any meaningful return so it would be panned. But if we got something decent back I wouldn’t expect to lose the fanbase. We’re too invested at this point so we’d rather hope he magically puts together a healthy run over shipping him for something marginal because we’ve seen the heights he can reach.
But Embiid isn’t like an untouchable figure. Within Philly he’s pretty divisive. But even people who have questions/issues with him won’t stand for outside fans bashing him (like myself) so it probably comes across like he’s infallible. We love him; we don’t always like him.
For example, our playoff shortcomings I think arguably he’s been most to blame but gets a bit of free pass for it. It gets exhausting just not knowing what to expect from your team because you never know if he’ll play and how he’ll play if he does. That game 7 Celtics loss where Tatum lit us up, every die hard Sixer fan knew from the opening jump we weren’t winning because of Embiid’s body language. There’s like a dozen times a year where immediately you can tell Embiid will suck because it looks like he’s sulking on the court and has no energy.
However, beating the Celtics in the playoffs last year and Embiid playing well was like one of the most meaningful Sixer moments for me in the past however many years. Because it didn’t seem like he was capable of that anymore and I was just so happy for him because of everything he’s been through. The way fans view contracts is clearly not how teams do. Embiid is still a good player with significant upside that desperate teams would love to gamble on.
That said, Gansey is not trading Embiid just because LeBron asks him to.
The difference here is that Paul George while not the iron man he used to be is infinitely more heathy than embiid. Bro hasnāt player 100 games in the last three years combined and I donāt think thatās going to get better. While Embiid is still good he looked like a shell of himself defensively last year in the playoffs.
You also have to look at the contracts too. Embiid has one extra year and that final year is gonna be 67 mil. Next year for Georgeās final year it will be 56. Thatās doesnāt seem like a big difference but it is.
PG can also go stand in the corner and fire 3s at a high rate until he’s 39. Durant was also physically unable to sustain an 80 game workload as a #1/#2 option at PG’s age and then he got moved to teams where he doesn’t have to do that and boom, he’s playing 70 games a year again.
There is no version of Embiid where he is playing a valuable role and not taking a beating.
The other difference is that Boston did not trade for Paul George, they traded away Jaylen Brown
