That two man game with him and Ant looks scary.
They finally gave Ant a true pg other than old man Conley.
They weren’t even trying and they were cooking Milwaukee. Glad the league has finally been put on notice
I don’t really think PnRs will work. Pretty soon every team will just switch that
Then you are forced to switch into unfavorable matchups.
What unfavorable matchups? How many teams have a defender that they’re happy to have on Ant but would hate to have on Melo or vice versa?
Switching can be problematic if the players involved aren’t defended by similar guys.
If A is on Ant and B is on Melo then either :
- A is already a bad defender to have on Ant and the switch is useless it’s just killing clock, just let Ant go at A
- B is already a bad defender to have on Melo and the switch is useless too, let Melo attack B in iso or PnR with a big
- both A and B are good matchups for Ant/Melo respectively in which case there’s a 95% chance they still will be after switching.
Every time two star players of similar positions end up on the same team everybody starts talking about how insane the PnR is going to be but it never ends up being a significant part of the team’s offense for this exact reason.
AD/LeBron, Brown/Tatum, Kawhi/PG. It’ll be the same for Kawhi/Scottie and Giannis/Bam.
The successful star/star PnRs are the ones where no team in the league has two guys who are both good initial matchups and good post-switch matchups.
Brunson/KAT, Murray/Jokic, anybody/Wemby. If you switch those you’re dead, so you have to hedge or drop and those have downsides.
LOL. Still coping hard huh. 🤣
I know people on this sub don’t actually understand basketball but yeah, teams will jusr switch.
It’s the same reason Boston barely ever used Tatum/Brown PnRs, LA rarely used LeBron/AD PnRs, Kawhi/PG etc …
A PnR between two players of adjacent positions can be switched without any real downsides, you’d have to be dumb to drop/hedge it.
Lollllll as if that’s the only plays Melo can make. He is an elite passer
I was just referring to this video? There’s no two man game here other than a PnR…
I miss him so much already. Hope he can shed the “not a winning player” tag that’s been following him because he’s most definitely a winning player.
Don’t worry, he will. Now that he’s out of Charlotte the praise will be plentiful with the added spotlight
And people are going to pretend this is who they knew he was all along despite not having seen a single Hornets game.
Or he’ll get shit on….its only been one preseason game vs the bucks
Spooky Wolves are BACK
these jerseys so beautiful
He’s actually the perfect type of guard to put with Ant and Rudy.
Man I hope he stays healthy, feel like this Minnesota team has more potential to compete with OKC and SA than the past couple seasons if things click right.
Time will tell but they’re gonna be fun as hell on the floor.
Underrated aspect of lamelos game is that he’s an 86% FT shooter at a reasonable rate. We’ve struggled with that the last few seasons, as Conley was our best % FT shooter, but he never got to the line. That’ll change with Melo.
This would be a cool team to see win the chip man
FTW but those jerseys are fantastic
Man I hope Melo stays healthy and goes deep in the playoffs. Definitely one of, if not the most, entertaining players in the league.
He’s gonna crack the top 5 point guard by the end of this season.
Top 3, and he’s not number 3.
Assuming he stays on the floor of course, I expect him to have an allstar season in the west which is saying something.
But very curious how things will play out in the playoffs. Wolves floor has basically been 1st round, with their ceiling the WCF. Does Lamelo really put them over the top? Guess it’s worth taking the chance over running back old Conley again
Gonna be tough vs SA & OKC regardless.
If Melo can stay healthy the narrative is gonna change so quick
As a fellow member of Gen Z, I’m hyped for this backcourt. Gonna be entertaining as hell on and off the court
It’s the preseason
Big if true
