They got Allen Graves though so not by much
I’m not a college guy, and we have had very limited NBA minutes to judge him on(he’s currently hurt), but I don’t think Graves is as much of an outside threat as Mamu, which is what we desperately need.
Yeah im hoping he can makeup for missing mamus three point volume. He put up alot of threes on a solid percentage. Graves looks like a defensive stud akin to cmb so any three point shooting will be awesome

This dude is majorly underrated so so fluid for a guy his size. No wonder he was ranked so highly in a lot of advanced stats models. He does every little thing to win which people may not notice just from box scores.
If he didn’t have such a poor playoff he def would’ve gotten a bigger contract in the offseason. He was one of the better bench guys last season
I think if the lakers play him at PF he can survive better in the playoffs.
I think they view him mainly as a 4 but I think JJ will look at 5 out lineups too
Also let’s be clear, a lot of clowns say he had a poor playoff without actually noting why his playoffs were poor. It wasn’t that he was a traffic cone while lighting up the board, and got benched because of bad defense, it’s that as one of the few offensive threats the raps had, he was over indexed on in both ends of the court. He shot very poorly when a lot of defensive attention went to him, and obviously given offense is his calling card it made sense to put someone who plays better defense in
With Luka and Reaves taking up that attention, that won’t be nearly as much of a problem
Probably - but I think they should have just kept Rui. I think he fits Luka and Reaves a bit better for the same price.

He was competing with a rookie and a guy with a messed up back, he had a huge chance there that he really didn’t take advantage of.
It was a confidence thing. When the game got really physical, he did not play up to his usual standards. He’s great in the regular season though.

I’m so happy Mamu has been shown all this love. He’s such a good offensive player. I was shocked he got drafted so low. Watching him at Seton Hall was awesome, he grew so much in those years. He’s a super underrated playmaker. Can do so much with the ball in his hands and in transition. Really really fun to watch. Also just a great guy
