Cameron Carr in the Lakers win: 19 pts, 3 Reb, 2 AST, 2 Steals on 7-13 FG 3-7 from 3.
Great game by Carr 0 turnovers he has 0 fear, he looked ad composed as he can be even at this level. His shot is pure and has crazy hops.

Looks great. Won’t get too hyped, but really good start.
We really focused on development this offseason so I have a lot of faith in him
Acuff carved up everyone we threw at him too. Once he gets that jumper in the elbow area to cp3 status, he’ll be scary.
Not to be a hater, but you can’t just say “once he gets his shot to status” lol
Once he gets his 3s to Steph status and his IQ to LeBron status, he’s gonna be unstoppable
The long term concern with Acuff is always going to be on the defensive side of the ball. Can his offense be so good that it’s a net positive over his defensive limitations? Otherwise his ceiling is going to be limited.
If he doesn’t become a serviceable defender then he probably maxes out as a Ben Gordon impact player with better passing
Already rookie of the year. Give him the trophy.
His offense is already better than a lot of guards/wings in the league. Just needs 1-2 years to bulk up so he can survive on defense.
He’s a long term starter next to Luka and AR imo. Just may take a year or two to get there.
He’s probably somewhere between 4-5th best offensive option for the Lakers, with really high ceiling IMO to push for 3rd best. He isn’t a defensive liability but that’s his biggest weakness rn. Curious how JJ will handle his minutes but he should be getting some consistent run with the bench unit.
On defense he has the length quickness and athleticism to become a great defender so I’m sure that’s something the Lakers will try to focus on with him
He’s a horrible defender. He got benched at Tennessee and quit mid season because his defense was so poor. He has a LONG way to go on that front.
Only issue is his lack of strength. Unless he can somehow be as fluid as a poor man’s Jaden McDaniels or Herbert Jones, his defense is going to be limited like a bend but don’t break Mikal Bridges
Skinny doesn’t necessarily mean weak. To go old school with it, Tayshaun Prince was a string bean but an amazing defender. Not saying Carr will be the same, but with how athletic he is I would be pretty surprised if he wasn’t able to develop some strength if not size
Luka, Reaves, Grimes, Sexton are definitely better offensive options as of now. In a sense, Kessler is as well, but I’d slot Carr in after that. The problem is right now he’s probably more a of a 2⁄3 defender and thats where lot of the Lakers offensive punch is coming from.
with really high ceiling IMO to push for 3rd best.
Luka, AR, are clear 1-2, Kessler, Sexton and even Grimes will get more run than Carr. Lakers have a lot of guards, so it’s not too much of a knock on him. But it will be a little tricky for JJ to get him a lot of minutes
Some players just are not able to bulk up easily, if at all. Look at someone like Ingram, who’s bulked up since his rookie year but still looks skinny. Carr looks similar in stature.
Also, bulking up significantly may not be a good thing for their offense in terms of movement, quickness, and may even affect their shot. And on the contrary, having a skinny build does not automatically mean you will be bad on defense forever, just look at someone like DJJ.
It’s not as much as bulking up but rather getting stronger. Durant Ingram they all are still slim but they are much stronger than their rookie years.
Ingram had a scrawny frame though. Carr doesn’t seem to, he looks like he’d put on weight naturally. Ingram never did.
Ingram definitely did put on some size, go compare his rookie year pics to now.
Yeah that’s the million-dollar question, how much can he fill his thin frame without affecting his athleticism and jumpshot. Hitting 195 by sophomore season would be a win.
For guys like this strengthening the core and lower body is probably more benefiicial than bulking up your upper body.
As long as they don’t get pushed around with that stable base they will be good.
Haven’t been his hype about a pick since reaves.
I’ll take the Lakers hitting a home run like this every 5 years
At 6’5”, is he really going to start? I think he’s taller than Grimes, so I guess it could happen
Shocking really…la needs his energy
Time to get delusional
Potential steal of the draft?
Inshallah
Literally every year lakers steal someone.
nobody said this about JHS tho
Sometimes they steal, sometimes they get stolen from.
They did every year, until the two younger Buss’s got sidelined.
I said it the moment they drafted him
I don’t know if you are a lakers fan but lakers fans have to stop saying this because Knecht was your spacing piece, steal of the draft already.
Same with reaves and Caruso
I think happy Luka will make a happy reaves… they will be the most fun California team to watch it’s just unfortunate I cannot root for them.
And Christie, and now thiero who people are going to know on a first name basis starting this year
How on earth did Knicks not pick this guy?
Salary. We had to keep our players. You think a rookie would have any shot at taking minutes from our guards? Carr is talented but his defense and overall IQ is a problem. Slim chance he beats out Shamet or McBride for a rotation spot.
how about Dolan stop being a cheap sack of shit and actually pay to keep his talent AND draft new talent to make his team better long term… (im a knicks fan btw)
Dolan is saving his money for his facial recognition program so he can punish people who have said bad things about him.
It’s more so Dolan cheapness than salary if we are being honest
You clearly don’t understand the 2nd apron.
Nah Knicks lost Mitch anyways they could have kept him they just didn’t care too.
Was a good shooter in college and is an elite athlete. I loved the pick - if he can develop into a decent defender that gives effort - it’s a home run pick
Kid has potential
Lol. I remember Knect
Sure, Carr could flame out too, but it’s pretty clear they are very different players if you watch the game
Knecht was a low iq player with mid athleticism. Carr knows his role, knows how to move around offball and has otherworldly athleticism. Im more optimistic for carr than Knecht since he has a much better archetype that can translate in the nba
Much higher potential on defense as well. I like him, I think he’ll be in the rotation this year.
Carr was a horrible defender in college. He was so bad he got benched at Tennessee and quit mid season. People see his size and length and assume he’s a positive defender, but he’s really not
Key word potential. He’s a freak athlete with a 7’ 1” wingspan
He was decent as a defender at Baylor. He got lost off ball but he was solid defending the perimeter. I didn’t watch him before Baylor but I watched alot of Baylor last year and he looked at least serviceable defending
Knecht is a good jumper, even for the NBA, but he doesn’t have much lateral speed for some reason. Usually those things go together.
You know Knecht still plays for our team right? I still hope he will pick up his game and get way better personally, his story isn’t over yet at the Lakers.
Dude lets be real, he’s the first one cut once roster locks happen. Thats why he looks like he doesnt want to play anymore.
One player in the history of the NBA had sucked before so another one must also
More like I’m not going to get hyped over early (pre) season stuff
Sucks that he had to miss that team trip to Slovenia
I’ve seen enough, Carr > Bron
Pelinka masterclass
Just needs to keep letting it fly. Also needs to try to pick up as many things as he can from thybulle on defense.
Future all star 🌟
he wants it all
Knect 2.0 lol
I’m dead serious from what I’ve seen from him I think he could make the all star game this year. Looks like a top 30ish player in the league.
Even Luka didn’t make all star as a rookie cmon 😭
Crazy we have to compare the 2. One is a legit mvp candidate and the other is Luka Doncic
This is why Lakers fans get a bad rep. Cmon bro lol
Did you actually watch him today? He gets to his spots so effortlessly. Guys like Herro and Garland snuck in why not Carr?
Quit it bro. you are making us Lakers fans looks bad with your take.
Jesus lol. I’m high on the kid too, but dial it back. It’ll be fantastic if he’s good enough to get regular rotation minutes while the team is healthy. One step at a time.
Why are you underselling him
Anything less than a unanimous mvp is a complete and total failure of a season from cameron carr
Don’t need a unanimous mvp that didn’t end well I’ll take a one off like Shaq and Bron
All star is wild, but wouldn’t be surprised if he goes off in the Rising Stars game or whatever they do at All Star this year.
Wow Pelinka cooked again! The next Dalton Knecht!
He would start on your team
Doubt it man. And honestly doubt the Lakers finish with that much better win percentage than the Nets this year
Wanna bet?
You Lakers fans are everywhere. Yeah lets bet. Lakers O/U on fanduel is 45.5 nets is 24.5 I bet they clear that gap easily just name your price
