The Philadelphia 76ers are set to start their preseason against the New York Knicks without many of their main players.

According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, LeBron James, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Anfernee Simons, Dominick Barlow, Adem Bona and Tacko Fall will all miss the preseason opener.

The 76ers are set to start their preseason against the reigning NBA champions led by Jaylen Brown and VJ Edgecombe.

Philadelphia will play against the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics twice later before the season, where fans might have the chance to see some of these players that are out tonight.

Mostly to figure out the end of the roster, who gets 2 ways, stuff like that. Also some teams like to play in nearby cities, which is probably nice for people who live in/near that city that might not be able to get to where the team normally plays easily.

This game should be mandatory tbh.

PeregrineFaulkner | GSW

Tacko is hurt.

BettisBus | PHI

1 | 5 hours ago

Embiid and Maxey should also absolutely be missing the preseason opener. One is an injury-prone MVP-tier player and the other is THE FRANCHISE who shouldn’t risk a random sprained ankle or hamstring strain 2 weeks before the regular season starts with a majorly revamped roster needing competitive, regular season reps to gel.

Ok-Tree4365

2 | 5 hours ago

A “majorly revamped roster” needs reps, period, and not just scrimmaging against their own bench. Preseason is an extension of training camp.

6er fans need to be ready for Bron to look like he’s washed for the first few weeks of the season before he starts playing like himself. That has happened the last few seasons but he always proves he isn’t washed. Shouldn’t be too long since he’s been healthy and looks like he already has his legs. Not like they don’t have enough talent to weather the storm while he ramps up
