Blake Hinson after his first preseason game with the Utah Jazz: “I can help however. I can go get coffee. I can maybe make a shot. I can talk to somebody. I can watch your dog. I just want to be a part of the program.”
This the only thing I’ve seen of this guy and he’s already my favorite player lol
Look man I said MAYBE I can make a shot
😂😂
He can actually shoot though. I hope the Jazz keep him.
Yeah dude is unquestionably a shooter. Question is what else can he provide
I’m rooting for him lol
You can’t teach that level of humility!
I love the quote but man of all the things on the list to say maybe.
He was probably a math major. Even all time greats aren’t shooting over 50% from 3. That’s a definite maybe no matter how good he is. Watching your dog? I bet he’s got a 100% success rate on that one.
30 seconds after the interview thing he thought shit I should have mentioned I can bring energy every game and do the little things or something
Alcoholic or Basketballic shot?
We gotta play ‘em one day at a time. I’m just happy to be here, hope I can help the ballclub. I just want to give it my best shot, and the Good Lord willing, things will work out.
Just like me fr. (I’m the worst player on my rec team but the best teammate)
I watched him a few times when he was on the Santa Cruz Warriors. He can shoot the 3 for sure. Didn’t know he had a personality like that.
Yeah I want him on the spurs.
Fetch your own coffee
We got some huskies that need watching though…
We need more of this energy in the league
Less focus on shooting, more focus on dog walking
I grew up around his area and met him a ton. Great dude
Watch his highlights from when he was at Pitt. Dude is a sharpshooter.
Lakers were forced to cut him a couple seasons ago. He’s good just limited opportunities
he’s a real one https://www.tiktok.com/@fieldof68/video/7326398233222057258
He was pretty good in a small sample for the Jazz last year and has been a 20ppg scorer in the G for a couple of seasons (although I take that with a pinch of salt as Mac averaged like 30+)
In a vaccum I’d take someone who averaged 20 in the G with this attitude over someone who averaged 45 and is hell bent on averaging any number of points in the league.
And he’ll watch dog? Can’t overvalue that
Can i pet dat dog
Some player, I forget who, talked about this. He said they need the people who focus on defense and hustle, who make the right passes and screens, not a scorer, because NBA has those who do it very well already.
Caruso? Something about the company is looking for a janitor but you walk in thinking you’re interviewing for the CEO position
That was Alex Caruso, a guy who knows his role and really excels at it.
I don’t think scoring is the issue. He’s a good 3 point shooter and has been productive throughout.
The problem is his defense just isn’t very good right now. If he can improve that he’d be a very useful 3-and-D wing.
yeah he’s a big wing at 6’8 so he if can just get to average on D he’s got a role on any team
He apparently dropped a bunch of weight going into this season, which should hopefully help
the things that keep people in the league is everything but scoring. For an example, look at Ben Wallace – he might be, with little exaggeration, the worst offensive player I’ve ever seen in the league (not to be confused with everyone not in the NBA). His career FT% is 41% – for perspective Shaq was at 53% and Ben Simmons at 59% – and only averaged 5.7 ppg despite playing 35+ minutes in multiple seasons. Yet quite a few people talk about him as a borderline hall of famer.
the reality with scoring is that as ‘good’ as a player is at scoring, the league is full of unstoppable offensive weapons. And no one would want him to be the guy scoring when there will be many guys much much better than him at it.
I value the G but expect NBA guys to dominate there. McBride was scoring 35 point near triple doubles in the G before he became a solid bench guy for the Knicks. It depends on how that specific team is coached and what you are trying to do though.
I love how he’s certain about everything he can for the team except “maybe make a shot.” 😂
I wouldn’t trust someone who can “maybe go get coffee” with anything
Especially not in Utah
Salt Lake isn’t Mormon despite being HQ for the church
I didn’t grow up there, but I lived in SLC for 8 years. It’s very Mormon. Even a lot of the people who aren’t mormon anymore have weird mormon quirks. And the county as a whole is still 50% LDS, and they are in the city shopping and running errands.
I mean it’s still pretty mormon tho..
compared to the rest of the state it isn’t, but it’s far more Mormon than your average city in the US.
Yes it is
That makes it more weird
“Clutch cream run, bro”
The best part is he is an elite 3-point shooter. 47% last season and 4⁄5 last night. He’s getting a job somewhere for sure.
He got that dog in em
FBI potential
I think that would be more like ‘got that him in the dog’
Kash specifically said that he’s open to hiring victims of beastiality, so idk
Yo if they made me fuck a dog, both me and the dog is victims, feel me?
Dogs can’t consent!!
That’s why he made the joke you’re replying to
That’s enough from you Mr Patel
how is he still drunk, i cut him off an hour ago
Patel has low t
No hyperbole I spit out some of my drink when I read this.
He got that dog walker in em
Reddit mod potential?
I believe it’s spelled dawg
So don’t let him watch your dog. Got it.
So he’s supposed to watch himself?
They have normalized being a slave as “dog mentality”
Slaves get paid hundred of thousands to millions of dollars a year in the modern age now! I wish I was a slave😭😭😭
I loved Blake at Pitt. Was a culture changer those two years at Pitt and can shoot the lights out. Hes in dramatically better shape than I’ve ever seen him too so it’s cool to see him lock in and get a real shot at the nba
I was coming to post the same thing. As a Pitt fan he absolutely had that dog in him and was a great culture guy. Impossible to root against. Been tracking him a bit in the G and was glad he had some nice games last year. Hope he gets a chance.
That Duke game was magical
Never got to see him at ISU. He got the boot from TJ for some reason, allegedly work ethic related.
There was never any issues work ethic wise from him at his time from Pitt and from my understanding was recovering from a non covid illness which cause him to miss the entire first year he was at ISU and the next year his recovery was lingering and interpreted as lack of work effort and led to them parting ways
Dude looks completely different now. He seems like a cool dude
This is awesome!!
Great mentality to have
Also, what about watching my kids for an afternoon?
Love this lol
His face looks like he plays basketball for the same Jazz as Karl Malone and Stockton. My guy from another decade.
Starks?! Stockton. Unless that’s a nickname lol
Well technically Starks played for us late in his career too but yeah he probably meant Stockton
Made the edit. I’m a Knicks fan who just woke up. My bad lol
Hope you had a good night’s rest my guy
Thanks king
No need lol. It’s just a funny moment. Also, someone said there was a Starks that played for the Jazz. So you’re technically right.
Eeey P, they want me to get someone a latte
As a pitt alum I will always love Blake
Levance Fields 2.0
Ehhh idk about that one. As a Pitt fan them some big ass shoes you’re trying put him in.
Blake’s more of Sam young or even a steroided Jamel artis then anything.
Chevy Troutman with a jumper
Krauser?
Thats also me interviewing for my dream job.
Maybe for you, but I’ve ALWAYS had a deep passion for data driven analysis, root causing problems and telling a captivating story with effective visuals.
(Kill me plz)
would you say you’re a coding rockstar or a coding ninja?
I’m a coding pirate, I write all my code on the salty C!
boooooooooooooooooo
How the fuck did the Warriors let this guy go after he made 10 3s in a G-League game?
Also, holy shit the Jazz’s roster looks really nice now. I’m not a gambler, but taking the over on their win total seems like free money. 5 quality bigs (if you count Hayes), and George and Peterson at guard with Ace to be the 3&D wing. How is this team only projected to get 35 wins?!
I think the main difference is that there’s no incentive to tank now. Win total would’ve been higher last year if we weren’t blatantly tanking. We don’t own our pick now though really so they’ll be all in imo
35, really? I was thinking they could sneak up to 6th
Yeah… I think a TON of smart money is going to come in on the Jazz win total over. Is Markkanen happen? As long as he’s not going to be traded, this team is going to the playoffs. At the very least, they’re going to take a play-in spot from the Clippers or Warriors.
35 seems way low for what I saw from them yesterday. It’s not gonna be “oh, it’s the Jazz, free win” this year at all.
On a related note, the warriors under is probably a good bet
Ya, they’re cheeks. I think they’re going to be the worst team in the league after the first 20-25 games. At that point, I think Jimmy takes more time to recover and Steph or Draymond fake an injury. They already extended Steph, so they can throw the season away.
I just hope Yax gets enough non-taking play time that he can develop.
The line is more around 42 games now
That sounds much more reasonable. They looked young and hungry. Well, in the first half. Who the hell knows what was happening in the second. I only tuned in to check on the Nuggets’ health and new acquisitions.
atleast for underdogs
You think the Jazz will win way more than 35 games next season based on a preseason W?
This sub man
It’s not based on the preseason, it’s based on our roster, and the fact that they will actually play this year.
Did I say anything about the W? Score doesn’t matter in preseason, yeah, but watching the game does tell you something.
Jazz look like they have a legitimate chance at having a winning season this year. Odds makers already started bumping the o/u on wins a bit.
Watching the preseason game doesn’t tell you anything.
They gonna win more games than the raptors and tree boy.
Doubt that, not because the jazz will be bad but I think the raptors are sneaky contender favorites. Top two in the east with the knicks
The actual free money is smashing the ever loving fuck out of the pistons over
Hate sports book bullshit, but a team that won 60 games last year shouldn’t have an o/u set at 48.5
It’s hard to replicate success when you switch from being the underdog to the overdog. Also, the win total probably had something to do with Jalen Duren
I get that, but betting that they will lose 12 extra games when their biggest loss was tobias Harris seems crazy.
I don’t think they get 60 wins again, but I do think they will win low to mid 50s if Cade continues to improve, even if duren turns into playoff duren in the season
I wonder if all the win totals have been adjusted down slightly as a result of the anti-tanking rules. Pistons were really good against the league’s bottom feeders. 11.5 fewer wins does seem pretty ridiculous.
I guess 5 quality bigs is better than 5 quality guards now?
It’s just funny seeing people get excited about that and then say we’re going to struggle even though being heavy at guard is the best position to be heavy at.
You really can’t have more than a couple bigs on the court at once and if you do you need to have playmakers out there for them.
George will average 25+ ppg and who knows what we’ll get from Peterson, but he should do okay. The team looks pretty well constructed.
Bad defense, they will probably have one of the worst defenses in the league again this year.
Blake Hinson is awesome and I hope he sticks in the League. He was briefly a Laker before we waived him.
I fucking love you Blake H2P
insert pic of him standing on dukes scorer table
He sounds like one of “the other cavaliers” from that snl skit with Donald glover
He has great college intern energy
The headband around his neck gives butler vibes
Athletes & celebs get ‘media trained’ so they don’t expose their true thoughts-as that would lead to them being unlikable. Then they pay PR to ‘curate’ their image, hoping people will like the way to choose to portray themselves. Turns out humility, humor and 100% honesty is the best possible strategy if you are a good person. This guy crushed it.
I’m not saying you’re a bot but thats so ai-coded. I hate living in this world
lol I promise I’m not a bot and also I do not use ai. Naz Reid.
This is some of the most honest, wholesome, and sweet “I just wanna make my dreams happen no matter what it takes” content I’ve ever seen.
beast mode
This is a good quote but it does remind me of the Other Cavaliers SNL skit
good mentality honestly… willing to learn whatever way it may be
no idea who he is but now I’ll keep an eye out. hilarious response
Same here lol already love this guy
This may sound a bit desperate but I actually love the mentally and would hire the guy without a second tought.
I’m now rooting for him based on just this quote.
You moved to the wrong city if you want a coffee my guy
False man. Salt Lake has so much good coffee. But I understand the dig.
Id take almost any major metro over it lol
Lol okay.
Even you Darryn Peterson!
Persian violet is such a nice color
Buying me a Blake Hinson jersey
When the interviewer asks if there’s anything else you want to add before wrapping up the interview.
lmao I fuck witht his attitude, good for him
Lmao relatable
Hell yeah dude
You get 12 dudes on a team with this attitude and they go far!
76ers should sign him to babysit Tyrese Maxey’s daughter
He’s a bucket, sign him or someone else will
Right mindset to have
Blazers legend! This dude can knock down some 3’s too!
Lando Norris as a McLaren reserve driver vibes when he was serving coffee for Fernando Alonso and rest of the team.
This dude looks like the 70s
Oh I love this shit. Give me a roster of 15 of these guys.
Went to college with him & had a few classes together. Always seemed like a humble & funny guy
Blake was really, really good for the Rip City Remix before he was on the Jazz. Also clearly a good teammate and hard worker in addition to being a pretty damn good shooter. He deserves a spot on a roster.
Great attitude
Just let the boy water your plants! For the love of god!
H2P baby
Dog watching is a valuable skill
He yearns to be a intern paid millions.
Blake hitting the dagger against Duke and then jumping on their scorers table is my favorite college basketball picture. Really hoping he can stick around on a team
No hot beverages allowed!
