i mean his career is pretty much over, dpoy and one of the greatest defenders of our generation, 4 time nba champion, 6 time nba finalist, huge piece of the 73-9 record team, 4 time all star. if he gets a career ending injury, i mean im sure he would be mad but he can accept it. like draymond can just have fun playing basketball now, now im sure he still wants to compete for a championship but its also pretty realistic that the warriors just cannot compete for one in the curry era again. and draymond wants to retire with the warriors, which makes sense. so he know its near the end

The 2023 nba season was not one of the most exciting seasons ever (imo) despite that it felt like almost every team was trying (until the last like 2 weeks)
I think it’s cuz a lot of the top players missed a lot of time. Of the top 10 in all nba only Tatum played 70 or more games. Lebron played 55 and still made all nba because everyone was missing so much time

Its legitimately embarrassing that the nba punished the clips and not kawhi. All of those side deals were kawhis ideas..he literally asked numerous teams to break the rules then snitched on who did and looked out for him.

The NBA should have punished the Clippers. You could argue Kawhi should have a harsher punishment without choosing to let the Clippers off the hook for cheating to such an egregious extent. If anything it was even worse on the Clippers’ end because it gave them an unfair competitive advantage over the rest of the NBA.

Had the Clippers played the victim once discovered (i.e. Kawhi was involved with and demanded the money), they could’ve dropped the hammer on Kawhi. But instead the Clippers claimed no wrongdoing.
There’s also a ton of evidence that the Clippers had major wrongdoing, but the amount of evidence incriminating Kawhi himself is actually minimal (other than the money ending up with him). There’s evidence he got paid but it’s unclear whether Kawhi was directly involved or if it was only his agent.
If the Clippers had been trying to pin as much as possible on Kawhi then Kawhi would’ve seen worse. Maybe the Clippers only lose 3 picks. And then Kawhi’s contract gets nulled or he ends up suspended, which means the Clippers can’t flip Kawhi into Ingram and two 1sts. The Clippers actually don’t end up better off by doing this! (Unless you see Ingram as a negative contract.)
One of the podcasts I listened to mentioned that the players association negotiated for more leniency with rules regarding players asking for extras. The way I understood it – there is no wrongdoing when a player asks for extras. But the moment a team offers it or responds to the players request the ownership is guilty.
I thought that perspective was interesting.
Given the reporting on it, sounds like the NBA offered the Clippers a chance to come clean and they kept lying.
So they went to Leonard and he decided to cooperate. The light sentence is because he probably had Uncle Dennis turn over more evidence against the Clippers and take the fall.
