Every era produces interesting niches (especially out of position traits) that end up being a type of meta for the most successful teams and that non-center dunker spot player is on the short list of most influential in terms of team building in the 2020s. It helps complete inverted playmaking teams that employ playmaking big men, especially talented short roll passers like Jokic and Draymond.
They’re genuinely so fun to watch. The dunks, the passes, the threes. Their synergy is amazing.

He’s not even fair since he’s arguably like a top 20 impact player throughout his prime because he adds layers to the simple 3&D archetype (i.e. spot up shooting and point of attack defense) - one of the best movement shooters, off ball cutters, off ball screen navigators, and added rim protection on helpside and transition.
It really does yield some fantastic ball. Perfectly complimentary skillsets
A healthy AG would’ve resulted in a 3-peat for Jokic
The way AG is built you couldn’t tell he can jump out of the building. He looks like someone that has the hops of Hachimura.

Didn’t realize how much I missed watching Jokic until seeing a couple of these highlights from today, god damn.
That doesn’t look like a preseason game
They are playing up in Boulder at the University of Colorado’s basketball arena. It’s only about 11,000 seats.
He is just so fun to watch. The gravity he has as a scorer, the look to the wing to shake the weakside help and then the perfect pass. He controls every possession in a way that very few players have ever managed.
The pass isn’t there for 95% of that time until it suddenly opens up and he fucking knew it would the whole time. Insane.

I don’t understand the smaller guys trying to get too physical with Jok. It inevitably pisses him off and Jokic tends to play better when pissed off.
Because it tires him (and anyone) out to have someone roughing you up and fouling you constantly. If the refs let them get away with it, it can work for that reason alone if they don’t just get killed on every possession doing it.

I think because he looks on the corner, Gordon’s defender slide out to make the pass possible. Jokic attract 3 people to contest then move one out of the way with trickery to make the pass possible, holy shit
