LeBron just wants to split the helicopter bill with someone

The anonymous exec? Rob Pelinka

Go birds

Hell i wouldnt be mad if we gave up a second for him. Starting backcourt of bronny and herro would do numbers. Were back to obscurity for another few decades prolly so we should have some fun with it

I’d trade a 2 for Bronny but ideally probably should be using a roster slot on another big.

The future second rounder? - bryce james

You guessed it, Frank Stallone!

It’s us. We can never resist a nepo baby.

Correction, Le76ers!

At the BARE minimum I’m gonna need to see the father son poster get completed first. Then he can go wherever or back to daddy.

If I were the Sixers I’d send a 2nd to get him sent to the Celtics for the show of it

That Bronny James for Jabari Walker hasn’t been consummated already leaves me in a state of nonplus.

LeGM

The writers’ room being treated for primus as they draft a Lakers-Sixers Finals where the Brons take on the franchise and coach that didn’t want them.

I’ll be watching for anonymously-sourced reports about the podcast ending and homework clauses in proposed contract negotiations.

Yeah this sounds like it comes straight from their front office lol.

Sell all the benefits and get more in return. He isn’t completely awful which was cool to see. I definitely think he’s got a solid bench position for years to come, maybe not on deep teams.

Yeah if other teams around the league have interest in him, the odds that they wouldn’t have that same interest later on when the lakers would have a better idea on whether or not they’d want to keep him is low

exactly lol. Why do we want to develop more draft capital?  Luka and AR aren’t young anymore, the point is to win now or soon

Lakers have one player to many. They would rather trade Knecht. But between releasing Knecht or trading LeBron, there is no brainier what to chose.

Right. He is so good and valuable that they can get a whole 2nd round pick for him. 😆

Yeah I kind of agree with the sentiment as I’ve seen enough from Bronny to expect him to become a very solid role player. He’s a little undersized but he’s already a good defender and decent playmaker. He still needs to develop some confidence in his shooting and doesn’t have a lot of weapons offensively, but even if all he’ll ever be is a defensively minded back up ball handler, I don’t see why you’d give him up for a 2nd round pick

Do the Lakers need 5-10 min a game of a defensive athlete off the bench, or do they need more offense?

Yeah, and if he keeps improving like he has been the last couple years, then logically he will only appreciate in value. It makes the most sense for the Lakers to just keep him in that case, especially at his current salary

LeRumbled

True, but the Lakers need to trim their roster and can’t even get a 2nd for the other guys

You need assets to chase championship(s) and you’re on the clock. Mystery solved lol

it just makes much more sense for the lakers to keep him and have that extra depth

Yup. Also, his small salary and the fact that the lakers have 16 guaranteed contracts means that the lakers are unlikely to get much of a player back in trade.

But the 16 guaranteed contracts means that the lakers have to do a 2 for 1 or 1 for 0 trade or waive someone and eat it.

The 3 most obvious candidates are at guard with Knecht, Hardy and Bronny, (honorable mention to Vando at forward)

Lakers are over the tax by 400k, which means they have money under the 1st apron hard cap to eat, have too many guards and not enough forward depth at PF/C, defensive backup center, or quality 3&D wing. They are also very asset poor with only 3 SRP and 1-2 FRP pick swaps …

Salary wise, Hardy > Knecht > Bronny, with all of them having a team option next year. And hardy and bronny are seen as positive impact. Hardy’s salary is more likely to be useful to get a player back.

So Knecht is the most likely to be waived..

Of course. Which is why this is fake. If two seconds were on the table you wouldn’t hear a rumor, the trade would have already been done.

Valued that much? They are saying one second round pick, maybe two but i doubt two.

“So much” a second rounder is the bare minimum asset lol.

ehh no, bc no is saying he better than Reaves, Luka, Grimes, Sexton, Hardy, Thybulle or Carr. Since all of these guys are already ahead of him in the rotation it would make more sense to get assets back bc he’s projected to be at the end of the bench.

But don’t be mad if you’re a Bronny stan, since he’s so good I’m sure he’ll excel on whatever team gave up the 2nds to get him

“Let call the executive R Pelinka. Wait that’s too obvious. Let’s call him, Rob P.”

“The anonymous executive’s name has been withheld in order to protect Rob Pelinka’s identity”

R0b P€!1nk@

It’s not. If you read the quote it doesn’t say something stupid like comparing Bronny to Tropic Thunder.

Bronny gone

Pelinka with a fake mustache calling from a burner phone.

[deleted]

Yeah that’s going to be the price for LeBrons sweetheart deal. Give up 2s to legitimize my son.

If they were going to do that they already would’ve. Bronny would be in practices with them now.

[deleted]

Everyone knows your value is the pick you were initially drafted in.

A bronny is a bronny but a second round pick could be anything, even a bronny!

A boat is a boat, but anything could be in the mystery box! Even a boat!

He’s not going to get a lot of minutes to prove anything

there is nothing to prove. do you expect him to be MIP of the season? who would seriously trade for him, except the obvious 76ers.

Well they need to get down to 15 roster spots so someone has to go. DK is probably the most likely choice but the lakers don’t have a lot of assets to trade rn but another 2nd added to the 3 they already have def helps. “Moving the needle” or not. Think thst expression is overused anyways specially n here lmao

Never know when those picks can be worked into a future trade to grease the wheels.

Assuming they actually could get multiple.

I think they want to accumulate enough draft capital then full send them in Summer 2027 to get a decent athletic wing defender.

We need to cut one player and he’s the worst on the team, why not get assets for him

An open roster spot is more valuable than a Brony.

Nobody acquires second round picks to “move the needle.” Nobody, ever. However teams trade for them so obviously you’re missing something about how building draft capital works. Having said that Lakers aren’t trading him but this assessment is off

They’re just trying to save face and make it look like there was only one reason he was ever drafted.

The Lakers have, a few times, traded into the early 2nd round using cash considerations. However, each trade moves you up ~10 spots. For example, to draft Adou Thiero at #36 in 2025, the Lakers started at #55, traded up to #45 (cash considerations to the Bulls) and then up to #36 (cash considerations again to the Wolves). The Lakers got Max Christie in 2022 by trading a future SRP and cash considerations.

But for example, if the Lakers didn’t have #55 in 2025, they would’ve needed to use cash to buy a pick in the 50s, and they would’ve run out of tradeable cash to make it to #36.

So for the Lakers this has more value than for another team. I actually like Bronny but he’s basically our 14th man at best. If he can net us some SRPs, it means we don’t have to cut Knecht, and this lets Knecht+Hardy+LaRavia be \(16M+ in expiring salaries, if we want to try to trade for some more talent on a longer term contract. Or \)10M in Knecht+Hardy who don’t figure in the rotation at all (whatever you think of LaRavia, he’s at least likely to be in the rotation)

If the lakers get two seconds for bronny he was pretty objectively the best pick at number 55 they could have made, but i’m sure people will continue to act like the next MJ almost got drafted but bronny stole his spot in the league

Two things can be true

1. he’s much better than expected and is a legitimate NBA talent

2. no one with his college performance or physicals is sniffing anywhere close to the draft without being LeBron’s son.

And yes I know what some ppl will say “he had a cardiac arrest, ofc his numbers will be bad”. Hate to break it to you, but having a heart defect makes you far less likely to be drafted, so this just makes that case worse.

So yes, kudos to Bronny for proving everyone wrong, but it’s totally rational for people to have had doubts.

He would not have been the 55th pick without his name though.

He earned his role since then, but it doesn’t change that anyone else would have gone undrafted.

He gets more investment and opportunities than a typical 55th pick tho. He also had a guaranteed deal for multiple years immediately

I think the pick was fine. Not uncommon for 2nd rounders to get drafted for potential rather than what they showed in college. If it kept Sr. happy and they’re now able to get back that 2nd round pick, seems like a win.

If he played one game that would have been true

What does “he will” mean?

He dropped to 55 because the Lakers were telling other teams not to pick him.

He still sucks as an nba player

based on what? he’s ass

and he was only 55th cause Lakers had 55th pick. they woulda picked him 31 if Lakers had that pick

He’s already had one

He’s actually been pretty terrible at everything throughout his career so far, Every crumb of hope is just amplified like crazy

[deleted]

he aint better than either

JHS lights up G-League too. and Dalton has an actual skill. only difference is Bronny gets nepo favoritism to keep getting reps in NBA

I’m pretty skeptical. He’s also got two years and almost $5 million remaining on his contract. Which isn’t a bank breaker, but I mean he’s also averaging 2.9 PPG, 0.5 RPG and 1.2 APG in his second year. Is a team really going to add guaranteed salary AND give up a second round pick for that? And they’re certainly not giving up two seconds for him; that’s just silly.

They probably will.

This is just chatter. Lakers are asset poor (3 SRP and maybe 1 FRP swap , not even a tradeable FRP) and have 16 guaranteed contracts which they have to cut down to 15 by opening day.

Knecht is the most likely to be waived…Hardy has the most value. vando has a bigger contract than any of these. Bronny is positive value, but slight salary..

Because he sucks.

NBA teams trade 2nd round picks like candy.

Like I get Bronny is the joke nepo baby but his career is already more impressive as is than a large portion of 2nd round picks. It’s really not that outlandish.

Shit, teams sell 2nd picks for cash quite often. He could make some of that value back in ironic jersey sales even if he never touches the court

Maybe a second like late one

NGL you gotta be a idiot if you think a team would trade multiple seconds for bronny

Are they sharing a helicopter tho?

what if they trade him to the 76ers?

Or Bronny doing an ankle breaking three over his dad.

My thoughts exactly. But I’m wishing him the best

Maybe if Nico was still there.
