He was a god damn problem those 2 or 3 years he was the best player in the NBA period in the playoffs.

Its not a knock Rondo absolutely pushed either the best or #2 basketball player of all time, a top 5 SG of all time, and Bosh (top 20 PF) to the brink with an aging roster.

Rondo was a unique and weird player. He played with a team first playing style but had a selfish asshole personality.
Stubborn is a better word than selfish. He was extremely selfless both on and off the court.
Idk if it’s really selfish. He just knows what needs to be done and if it’s not being done he’s definitely an asshole. But he was one of the few players that could and would check LeBron. We needed that to win. He’s like CP3. I don’t think people call Chris selfish but he definitely is an asshole

Celtics vs Heat matchups were all about Rondo and that was during prime Heatles era. I’ll never forget LeBron being asked if the Celtics can stop him and he was like “can we stop Rondo? That boy over there is all that matters, not me”
During the 2008 season Rondo wa the one i always hated most out of the Boston squad as he was the active and involved player.

And he literally played a vital role in giving the Lakers a ring 6 years ago so I don’t know what makes you think a prime Rondo wouldn’t be a killer

pure rapm has westbrook being top 4 three times if you do 4 years and top 10 five times if you do 3 years
rondo’s best finish is 24 if you do 1 year in 2007 and then his next best is 33 and 37.
I dont know what RAPM is but when I looked up last years leaders you get Dyson Daniels over Jokic, Queta ranked 8th overall, Diabate and Champagnie 9th and 12th, Brunson all the way at 40th, etc etc. Seems like a pretty shit way to rank players tbh

Both were best as slashing rim runners as scoring options, both were mediocre shooters. Both were great passers. Both had well above average athleticism for the point guard position
The difference is Rondo was packaged and contained to be a championship caliber traditional point guard while Westbrook got way too many green lights to do what he wanted
Westbrook’s most impressive years in terms of playing winning basketball were when he could not do that
Obviously Westbrook is not a complete 1 on 1 carbon copy of Rondo with more shot attempts but he shares a lot of the same flaws and strengths. Difference is Rondo is a proven winner and offensive director for championship teams
