This has been a decent (ish) shot for Giannis over the last couple years, he shot 44% from midrange in 2024-25. Shot much worse from midrange last year though so we’ll see if it sticks.

Yes, because midrange shots are generally bad shots. In 2025, Giannis shot 42% on short midrange attempts and 45% on long midrange attempts. That’s similar to a bunch of players no one thinks of as bad shooters. DeMar DeRozan was at 47.5% on LMRs, Jaylen Brown 43%, Devin Booker 46%, Jamal Murray 45%, and Lebron 40%.
Yeah that’s equivalent to ~29% from 3 on top of being a tougher spot to get to lol. For comparison, Russel Westbrook shot 30% from 3 for his career.

Summer of 2011 I think it was, he went to Hakeem to learn how to post up. Biggest criticism of his game back then was lack of post play. He fixed it in 2012 and became unstoppable.

What I’m hoping is that Giannis is more amenable than Lebron was when it comes to Spo’s coaching. Miami Lebron is still the most efficient Lebron we’ve ever seen IMO. His shot chart when with us was chef’s kiss.
I think if Spo convinces Giannis to focus exclusively on his most efficient spots, I think we might see his game expand. Adding this little one-leg fadeaway, and possibly finding a sweet spot for his 3pt shot around the spots where he likes to initiate the offense, I think we could see the most dangerous Giannis yet.
But also Giannia just naturally fits into the motion offense they ran a lot last season. Unlike our roster last year, Giannis can consistently get into the heart of the defense to trigger rotations on the perimeter.
