Analytics changed the game . He would be considered a black hole on offense unless he learned to shoot from 3 or add another layer to his game like being able to pass as well.

It’s ironic though in the playoffs guys like him who can get a tough mid range or low post bucket when your 3s aren’t falling are actually very underrated . But he’d also need to be switchable on D

Not sure if any modern prospects can have comparison to any pre-2015 players. It’s such a different game now.

the Zach Randolph/Moses Malone type. A near-7-foot closet that parks inside the paint and gets rebounds and easy points over everyone + a nice middy. It’s true we see less and less of that in the modern game, but this generally goes with the willingness to find spacing more dynamic players and less paint presence.

this is essentially all because of the corner three… its just such an efficient shot. fouled three > fouled two > dunk > kickout corner three >>> everything else. teams are optimizing toward this scheme across the board,

the solution, if they want one, is simple: remove corner 3s, and fouled threes are BO3 free throws. Takes down the efficiency of two of the top shots, thereby leaving room for other types of shot attempts to compete

No man. Just know learn some dang analytics. You can’t give up more points than you score. Sorry for the harshness but this is 2026 already.

You would have to be an Ausar Thompson type to get away with it, Jared Vanderbilt has great rebounding and can defend but he cant find consistent minutes because he cant do that at an elite enough level and he cant hit open 3s or contribute anything on the offensive end

That’s the point, you can only get away with it if you are a literal DPOY contender like Bam or Ausar.

Bam rarely plays the 4 tho

41.75% of Bam’s total FGA in 2025-26 came from between 15-30FT. He’s evolved into a frequent jump shooter over time.

He’s also a Big

Giannis?

Sorry bro I just personally think u wouldn’t be a good NBA player.

Yeah

Power forward in a small forwards body.  That denotes Zion being built heavy but smaller framed.

Corliss Williamson was considered a SF when he came into the league. Basically any time before 2005 Zion would have played some SF

Zion has 7 footer weight

Jfc, how many times can you say the word tweener in a single comment?!

That’s just the exception

And a really huge outlier too

Anomalies don’t represent the norm

For every Brunson you got a Cam Thomas (extreme example) or a Donovan Mitchell (fairer comparison; middle class Brunson)

Bro got that flopping shit down as good as shai

Other than Trae, who? And mind you Trae has to be a top 5 playmaker to qualify.

Depends on where they score from. A small guard that’s bad at defense whose strength is scoring on 3s & scares the piss out of the defense from a spacing standpoint >>>> the same player that scores the same ppg but primarily from driving to the basket.

That’s not super helpful for teams tbh. If he can manage to play defence in those minutes then yeah you could see that role potentially.

If he’s not the answer then there is no answer to this question.

I just don’t agree. The further down the bench you get, the better you need to be without the ball and the more efficient you need to be with it. The Cam Thomas archetype needs the ball. When his usage dropped, everything dropped. In today’s game everyone is so efficient that even in a reduced role, if that guy goes ¹⁄₁₀ in his 15 minutes, he loses you the game.

Not really, He takes a lot of bad shots and he doesn’t contribute in anything else

What would be the answer if not Cam Thomas?

Wouldnt the answer be someone out of the league?

We can’t all inherit mankind

And ugly to watch game and below league average efficiency at 6’11

DeMar isn’t that inefficient. He’s good enough at drawing fouls that his TS% is actually above average, although his eFG% is a little below average. I wouldn’t put him in this category

Luka is a terrible example of this. He’s one of the best playoff performers in the league and has repeatedly elevated his teams in the postseason. He made the WCF with a roster nobody considered elite and then led a team to the Finals. His defense has weaknesses, sure, but his offensive impact is so absurd that acting like he’s some empty-stats, high-usage player is just wrong.

He’s not even close. Luka absolutely helps his team win

Mathurin is a dawg at least, I could see him becoming more the RJ Barrett type than the Poole/Thomas type

Sengun is one of the many athletes who suffers from the “potential man” meme.

He’s objectively great for a 16th pick, arguably a top-50 player in the league, and an All-Star. But people refuse to accept that he’s Sengun. They all believe that one day he’ll score 10 PPG more and become some Jokic 2.0 instead of accepting him as Alperen Sengun. They keep dreaming about his potential and because of that they shit on what he is today.

One day he might win a chip as the third best player on another team and people will finally stop.

Well for starters anyone thinking kat is a one dimensional big is braindead to begin with

Who honestly knows what they’re doing in New Orleans. There doesn’t seem to be much logic in their team building process (a 26 win, “win-now” team in a year where 8 teams tanked to the bottom)

I’m with you. I think ppl are confusing what’s the most annoying archetype as a fan to watch vs what’s actually an effective archetype.

SGA (and Deni from my team lol) is probably annoying as hell to play against and watch as fans. But you can’t argue that foul baiting is ineffective in the actual game

Shai is one of the greatest mid range shooters we’ve seen in a very long time. Hes also a very high floor scorer. You can literally pencil him in for 30 a night . He may not get you 50 but at his efficiency he doesn’t need to

Shai is not a shit defender, thinking more like AR

These are not mutually exclusive things. The current US president is the worst of all time and yet very successful, in certain ways.

Yeah If he’s willing to accept a different role

nobody is better than Harden in low stakes games

that’s why Harden shot ³⁄₉ from the field in the actual Game 7 vs. Toronto and ²⁄₁₀ in Game 7 vs. Pistons lmao

Other than Luka and post KD OKC Westbrook for a while I can’t think of any. Basically one guy is the offense with even higher usage than the ball hogs from early 00s since those only cared about scoring but still left the playmaking to the other teammates.
