We don’t really know. I don’t think Risacher even knows. The GM that took him 1 was fired but Snyder was the HC at the time, so it’s not like he wasn’t here when we took him.

He doesn’t do anything exceptionally well. Can’t really create for himself and his handle isn’t great, but he was a solid shooter and was always in the right spot for an easy bucket. He has the frame and potential, just never put it all together. Plus the inconsistent minutes seemed to make him lose confidence.

I don’t think it’ll take much. He’ll never be a star and compared to Sarr or Castle he’ll always be a bad #1 pick imo, but he’s got good wing size and shot 37%3pt on pretty solid volume last year. He’s a solid defender already
Just marginal improvements in those areas turn him into a pretty universally valuable player

I mean, no one even when he was drafted believed he was the same caliber of prospect as previous years’ #1 picks. But we are a year removed from him finishing 2nd in ROTY. I think it’s too early to write off someone who’s still 21.

I thought the mavs had a nicer training facility, they hooping in an amazon fulfillment center
The work out facility is across the freeway, I-35, from the America Airlines Arena. It’s a standalone lot and looks like a dump on the outside. But it’s better than where they used to practice at the Baylor Hospital downtown. Amazing place to work out but not fit for an NbA team to have practice. Only one court and people who had memberships would be on the sides watching. Unreal we won a championship while they worked out there. I used to watch Dirk shoot FTs for hours and never miss.

When Cuban first bought the team he used to practice with the team too. Run sprints, do drills, take jumpers, and hit the locker room with the team. Everyone on the team seemed to be unbothered by it and it wasn’t really publicized. But people want to beat up Jerry for being way too hands on while Cuban was acting as if he was a player on a ten day contract while he owned the team. I would see this every weekend at Baylor hospital in Downtown Dallas. Dirk is was the hardest working individual on the team. He would show up with his trainer, some old guy from Germany, and shoot before and after practice for hours. The old guy would rebound for him and give him instructions every so often. Dirks grind was undeniable.

I’m assuming you haven’t been to Intuit, but the Clippers literally have a state of the art practice facility inside their arena. You can see it as you’re entering.

The Spurs new practice facility is a dream compared to this. And I’m a huge Spurs fan so it’s whiplash compared to being a huge Cowboys fan. The Cowboys facilities are kind of a zoo too like the guy above was describing… but on a whole other level

I always love these open run videos though. Yeah it’s casual, but I feel like you can see the skill/speed/athleticism of NBA players so much more viscerally in these vs. actual games.
Even seeing them live is insane. I got to see Lebron live and man is he fast, even at his age. Dennis Schroeder was even faster in person when I saw him play for the Raptors

I think Dallas is going to surprise a lot of people this year. I think Flagg is going to take an all NBA level leap, Kyrie is going to be the player he was pre injury, and there’s a lot of talent throughout the rest of the roster.
They’re still far from contending due to lack of shooting and general roster logjams due to wing and front court redundancy but I think they will be in the mix for a playoff spot.
If they don’t trade Kyrie, I can definitely see it
I also think Dusty May is an incredible coach but I am biased in that regard as a Michigan fan
We had the most number of clutch games last year played. We lost 70% of them. Having Kyrie means a chance to win a lot more of those plus his shooting ball handling and requiring opposing defensive attention. That helps everyone on the team play a little bit better.
We could be close to 45 wins.
