I’m an airline pilot. I fly hundreds of hours a year. I’ve been on 4 Helicopter rides in my life. Each one I was always weary about because there is just way less control of one of these things when they go down

I went in one once, its definitely cool but after looking into it more im not going again. They’re death traps. At least with a plane if something goes wrong they can coast and try to land. A helicopter just falls right down to earth

I work in aerospace manufacturing and have made a bunch of parts for one of the big helicopter manufacturers, and I wouldn’t go anywhere near one. If you saw the dudes making these parts and the absolute lack of giving a fuck about quality from management you would be horrified.

But if you ride in a helicopter two dozen times a month for years, it’s a lot more likely that you will eventually be in a crash. Kobe frequently rode in helicopters to avoid LA traffic, it’s entirely possible that he would still be alive if he had chosen to ride in helicopters less frequently.
