Robert Horry in February on whether Wemby is in the MVP convo: “He’s not even in my top 5. He’s too inconsistent for me. I think we trying to anoint him as the next great too fast. I do have a vote.” Robert Horry did not, in fact, have a vote.
He always has the worst takes.
This is going to sound bad, but I’ve gotten to the point where I almost never care what any former or current player has to say about other players. I know they’re incredible athletes who know more about playing basketball than I know about pretty much anything, but holy hell do players so often have idiotic opinions about the sport they play.
Honestly, the NBA is the worst sport I can think of where oldheads just shit on the current generation to prop themselves up.
Almost every other sport you have the old guys propping up the new guys.
It’s jealousy because these guys do what the old heads did, but make 10x more doing it lol. The money breeds jealousy lol
Not only that, players often overrate guys that do difficult/more skilled things. Having a better bag doesnt necessarily make you a better player efficiency and stuff we dont notice because it happens off ball (especially on D) matters too.
the Chris Broussard of players
Bull Shit Bob
Nah that’s Pippen.
Full list of voters, which does not include Robert Horry.
Shout out to all the people who downvoted me at the time for pointing out that Horry isn’t a voter.
Kendrick having a vote is insane. Insane I tell you. Also Horry just says things without any sense.
And the comment explaining that he gets a vote for being an analyst like how Ernie Johnson does has over 50 up votes lmao
lol people will downvote fucking anything, especially if they get to pile on
This list tells me everything I need to know about mvp voting
Downvotes are a compliment, never forget that
My man brought receipts!!
Cade getting so few second and third place votes is surprising to me. Also Wemby getting any first place votes is pure glaze.
Cade wasnt even a top 3 mvp player. It shouldnt surprise you. Mvo voting meaningless after the first and 2nd guys anyway unless tight race like 1990
I thought being the best player on the #1 team was important in this kind of voting. Not a Cade fan just thought that’s how it goes.
You’ll be happy to hear that it was in fact important, and SGA won MVP for being the best player on the actual #1 team. Wemby, btw, was the best player on a team that won more games than the Pistons, since you seem unclear on that fact as well.
7 or 8 rings and still weirdly bitter
7.
That naked finger would bother me too.
If he played just a little harder?
Because he was at the right place at the right time.
well, he made some clutch plays for sure but yes. Definitely benefited from playing next to Kobe, Dream, Duncan.
How many? The shot against the Kings and the Pistons.
He was clutch. No doubt about it. But he was a replaceable player.
He is also remembered for hip checking Nash.
You just named two of the biggest playoff shots ever. That pistons game he did so in game 5. He dominated game 5. Definitely had some big games with Rockets.
Certainly suns fans will remember the hip check.
Is Steve Nash your boyfriend?
Spurs don’t beat the pistons in ‘05 without big shot Bob
Dude just spewing bullshit just because he feels like it
Bob has never seen a shot he was too afraid to take
So he’s unfortunately perfect for modern tv
Horry-ble take.
“not impressed” guy is worst kind of oldhead
makes me unreasonably happy that this fool will never be in the hof despite his many rings
I feel like his minute management should hold him back from winning it, but to not have him top 5 is ridiculous.
He is such a sorry ass hater.
Bro really thought his championships would put him elite, and for role players, of course without questions, but he wants to be thought as those players considered for mvp, and he never will.
So Robert is out on knowing ball. What a joke
Turn off ESPN if you’re looking for actually basketball analysis. If not then keep on keeping on
Alright man relax he’s easily top 5
Yeah even as a hater the worst you can do is put him at 5
Horry lost all credibility the moment he said Dream was 20x better than Timmy.
Why are you posting this comment from February?
Bob with another terrible take
25 and 11.5 with 3.1 blocks a night, and he dragged that team to the finals. seven rings and horry still can’t spot a guy who’s consistently terrifying
Dragged is an overstatement lol like they don’t have 2 other top 5 picks. Fox who is still considered good despite the mistakes and the 6man Johnson. They played 2 teams with more injuries and were favorites but it is “Dragged”.
Idk why tf you’re getting downvoted but the Spurs were clearly a good team with two ridiculously talented young players after Wemby. Dragged is ridiculous and we don’t need to devalue others to raise Wemby up. I doubt OP would blame him for the loss either lol.
Downplaying the Spurs team to prop up Wemby, hilarious. Jokic’s PR team is in danger of being overtaken by Wemby’s PR team.
That was the most blatant travel ever in the first clip lol
He’s honestly gotten away with much worse, that one wasn’t too bad
I’m a certified Wemby hater. This dude is dumb dumb.
I hate the Big Flagrant as much as the next guy, but not top 5 is crazy lol

Wemby played in the NBA Cup Final, and therefore met the MVP eligibility threshold of 65 games, which should have been obvious given he finished third in MVP voting….
Facts. It’s way too early for all that
For mvp considerations ? He is already there. Mvp doesn’t mean best in the world.
Holy shit finally someone says it. Other top 5 players do not make the types of mistakes (on both ends) that Wemby routinely does.
clearly he’s just talking out of ass and I don’t agree with him, but he did play with 2 of the greatest centers of all time so maybe his standards are a bit higher
2 of the greatest centers AND the best PF ever
Get his ass
Victor Tshirt fans gonna be mad
Completely agree. Wembenyama is pushed by the narrative(NBA).
Thank you, Robert
Honestly, it’s not a terrible take as far as things currently are. Do I think he will be a great? Of course, but I agree that he’s still pretty young and needs to be more consistent, and obviously decision making needs to be better.
That being said, I think he’ll absolutely get there, but still, nothing is guaranteed.
It’s not too early for mvp convos though. Who else would have been in the top 5 convo last year that’s not Shai jokic ?
Yeah especially at that point since Wemby had come off the bench and with a minutes restriction a lot and the spurs had plenty of success
If you think a former Spurs player isn’t voting MVP for a Top 3 Player who’s currently on the Spurs….this is clearly misdirection.
he didn’t/doesn’t even have a vote
he also played for the lakers, rockets and suns
not everyone has blind loyalty to a franchise simply because they played there for a portion of their career
