Zion Williamson on the fact that Orleans is home for him now, and whether he thought how it would be to play a playoffs game in front of the Pelicans crowd. He also talks about New Orleans energy and how it isn’t for everybody.

I love Orleans
I was never a fan, great musicians but Houston radio back in the day played Dance With Me way too fucking much.
Going to playoffs isn’t for everybody also
Why is every clip of this press conference so depressing
I really hope Zion is doing ok mentally. The few clips I’ve seen from him recently sound like me talking to my therapist in a not good way.
We can talk about the money or how its his fault his career hasn’t gone the way it should, but ultimately it has to be mentally tough to know what you’re expected and capable of doing, see your peers succeeding, and just not being able to do the same. That’s a pretty human experience—one that I can relate to pretty heavily. That’s a dark place to be in.
Add to it the fact that his failure is extremely public and there’s not a lot of sympathy going around… man, I don’t wish that on anyone. Money doesn’t fix your self-worth, even if its millions.
I don’t feel bad for him one bit. I watched this kid takeover college basketball when he was with duke and everything that has led him astray can be traced all the way back to him and his decisions. But guess what even though he is a bust he’s still very rich despite his decisions so yeah I don’t feel one ounce of sympathy for him
Friend, did you read my comment before responding?
And yeah he’s rich, but you can be doing well financially and still feel like a pathetic failure. The dude built his life around basketball and being really good at basketball. I’m almost positive that being good at basketball is fundamental to his sense of self-worth. In that headspace, money doesn’t mean a whole lot because the thing missing for your self-worth is something you can’t buy.
You can not feel sympathy for him all you want—I’m just saying I know that’s a dark headspace to be in. I feel empathy for him and I hope that he’s getting the mental health treatment he likely needs.
Ja saving Zion’s life.
I hope this is the season where his career takes off. Such a waste of ability. I am sure he has gone through so much behind the scenes
This guy seems to get a pass for “going through stuff” that tons of players of lesser talent have not. Since 2019 not one playoff game.
Give me a fucking break. All he’s “gone through” is eating himself out of a HoF career and disappointing every fan of his team.
I think the crazy thing about Zion is that so much of what has gone wrong are due to things that are entirely within his control. Yes he gets injured a lot but he doesn’t take care of his body like other athletes. Basketball fans from all teams are just begging for him to get into shape because watching him on the floor when he’s healthy is pure entertainment.
How could he ever get excited about the New Orleans pelicans ? The team sounds so fn stupid I could die lol. The PELICANS!!!!
The city will never be lit for the pelicans
Maybe you shouldn’t talk about things you don’t know anything about.
Pelicans are our state birds, hence the state flag. Pelicans are badass and scary AF
You see Pels gear all over the city, every day. People love the Pelicans. We hate our front offices, coaching, and ownership
The food there must be amazing or something.
If he ever comes to the Bay he would be forced to eat avocados and go on hikes. Not much nightlife here and everyone is fitness focused.
It is known for its food.. (and Jazz. Word to Pistol Pete).
New Orleans is famous for its rich Creole and Cajun cuisine, blending French, Spanish, African, and Caribbean flavors
New Orleans is not known for Cajun cuisine. It’s an annoyingly common misconception.
