This happen with Harden and Philly and it didn’t hurt there market. There’s only 30 team you can play for unless you want to play overseas. Milwaukee was never a destination free agents want to go there in the first place so nothing would be change.

All parties would have been motivated to work out some sort of new deal. While no one would have been happy, when youre doing something that is blatantly against the rules you’d be motivated to work it out internally. Furthermore, the reasoning to renege would be because of the heat from Leonard rumors and subsequent investigation which would be somewhat understandable.

Paul could spread that the Bucks are an unreliable organization that screws over players but he’d be risking his reputation and trust with clients if it came out he got his players less money all for Gary Trent Jr. Trent likewise could go nuclear and blow the lid off of everything but he then he wouldn’t get his money.

All would be motivated to work out some new deal that got all or at least most of Trent’s money to him eventually through legal and/or illegal channels.

I think this was the case before the CBA, but I think the agents have been one of the most impacted classes of the cba. Their negotiating power is gone. They’re squeezing the last juice out of the stone but the idea now that potential got paid may die this offseason.
