There’s not the edge to be found in 3p shooting there once was. Everyone knows to get them up, and more players than ever are viable shooters. Bringing nothing but shooting just doesn’t move the needle like it used to, which means it won’t overcome flaws

He does literally nothing else on the court. The days of a guy who does nothing else besides shoot 3’s are over.

Plenty of people Can shoot 3s not many can shoot and defend. His skillset is easily replaceable and he can’t play significant minutes for a team seriously trying to compete

And that’s it. That’s the problem. Even an average NBA shooter is pretty good these days, so you’re better off with a slightly worse shooter who can actually play a little defense.

Cant be a one tool player. Even then his shooting is streaky. He’d have a week where he’s basically Steph but then follows it by having a month where you question how he made it to the NBA. Not worth really keeping around.

I mean at this point he’s just washed. Played less and less for the Warriors and then couldn’t crack our rotation. He’s an end of the bench vet, at this point (or a salary that just gets used to facilitate trades).

He was a great fit in Indy talent wise, but he didnt want to come of the bench for Nemby.

yep, half a season was enough for me. the trade ended up being ayo for miller and 2nd round picks. I’m hopeful for leonard actually he looks legit. I think he can be a 6th man or borderline starter and is already a rotation player. miss ayo though!

Funny enough I loved Dillingham at Kentucky and wanted so much to believe that officially listed 178 lbs weight thinking well Tony Parker was 180 lbs when he came in the league but was able to put on enough size to become a good player. But when I saw he measured 164 lbs at the combine I was so out I wouldn’t have used pick #35 on him much less #4 or #8. At 164 lbs best case he could put on enough size to look like rookie Tony Parker in 2-3 years. Soon as I saw that I flipped immediately to wanting Castle. One of the funniest things I ever saw was at the draft lottery when ESPN was interviewing Dilly+Sheppard and Castle+Clingan together and all I could think is Castle+Clingan looked like Dilly and Sheppard’s dads.

Yeah jeez I just looked up Dillingham’s rookie contract. He’ll make more than I’ll make in multiple lifetimes despite being a bust. Never thought about how much lottery rookie contracts are but even getting one is life changing amounts of money. If he invests that responsibly and doesn’t blow it on anything dumb he still won’t ever have to work a day in his life. If he’s responsible his kids might not have to work either. After that it’s up in the air.

He was expected to take the scoring pressure off of ant. Jumper was supposed to be guaranteed with defense a liability.

He oddly enough defended well enough to at least be insulated by the rest of the Wolves’ size, navigated screens decent and everything, but just could not buy a damn bucket.

Weak draft year but def could’ve had at least kel’el ware or McCain would’ve been good too.. matas would’ve been a steal as well. Just not good at drafting tbh

What was the ideal version of Dillingham even supposed to be?

He was drafted around where he was expected to be drafted. He was always considered a mid-round lottery prospect that year.

People just expected his shot to carry over to the NBA but his form didn’t work from NBA distance. As a result, he couldn’t shoot, which meant defenders were able to back off of him on defense, which meant he couldn’t create separation with his handle, which meant he couldn’t create passing advantages or finish around the rim.

I actually think he’s a decent passer. Not elite, but good.

But he just isn’t fast enough or a good enough jump shooter to work at his size. All of his “shiftiness” doesn’t matter if defenders aren’t afraid of your jumper or of getting blown by. Especially since he shows zero willingness to bait fouls.

Also, saying he lacks effort defensively is just not true. Dude tries. He’s just too small (and doesn’t have a ton of savvy).

Yea I think if he would have had a chance to play through some growing pains his first few years and developed confidence he had a pretty impressive skillset

(Size was always going to be an issue. The hope was that he could add some meat to his bones and be a bit better suited to handle the physicality even as a shorter guard, but he’s still so slender)

Unfortunately he had a pretty short leash playing on a decent wolves team the last few years and was very prone to mistakes

I mean the team has stockpiled one of the best asset chests in the league and they have a roster with a decent set of players on there. Best FO in the league is obviously an overstatement but they’re much improved. And these trades mean nothing, these are dudes who will be waived.

i dont know about superstar with castle seems like wishing on a star creation scoring/ to suppression outside of hb dives to rim is still a question mark for him i think he caps out as high level starter, i think edey if he can still healthy can be more than jus a good role player, but im with you on sarr, kyshawn, clingan. Mccain pre-meniscus tear looked to be the best in the class but right now im not sure if he provides much outside of shooting, risacher is straight up not good at the sport, and matas and reed have a ways to go
