Flagg - LeBron is a good comp though. Very similar skillsets. Obviously Flagg isn’t the same level of rookie as LeBron, not even close, but it’s one of the better comparisons to rookie LeBron that I’ve seen. They played differently, but had a lot of the same skills and weaknesses.

I’m not going to lie to you though I kind of thought this about Flagg as well with the whole LeBron comparison and I almost thought for where he was drafted and who he is that he kind of went under the radar to a certain degree almost last season. Maybe that’s the wrong way to put it but like, there were many times where I thought to myself “why is this not getting more attention?” after certain games and shit.

A lot of people made the comparison during the season. Knueppel was the more NBA ready player that made a more immediate impact to his team but a way lower ceiling, just like Melo did.

I was downvoted yesterday for saying Flagg had a higher ceiling than Anthony Edwards. I thought that was like very plainly obvious if you’ve followed Flagg’s career at all up to this point.

I think it’s because people really just don’t understand age-related production that well. The significance of Flagg being only 19 years old last year with his production is completely lost on people. Also people heard a lot of the stupid pre-draft talk about Flagg being not a “first option” and seem to have not really paid attention to the fact that he completely shattered that in college and resoundingly buried it last year.

Nobody thinks he’s on Lebron’s level.

It’s the LeBron comparison too, people don’t understand nuance that he’s saying he reminds him of rookie LeBron. He’s not saying that Cooper Flagg is going to be the goat, just that he’s had a very impressive start to his career.

didn’t say prime LeBron, but he was comparable to rookie lebron… Statistically he was slightly better, but LeBron’s rookie season was in a completely different era and style of basketball.  Year 2 is where LeBron separated himself from most, so we will see

You have to consider that he was doing it at 18 (1-2 years younger than the average rookie) on a shitty Dallas team without a ton of help. He might not be Wemby/Lebron level but looking great at 18 is insanely impressive.

I watched him a bunch last year and he looked comfortable after 15 games or so. I thought he looked better against NBA competition than college.

That was him all year. He has the same effective field goal percentage last year as Westbrook who’s struggle to find an NBA job is because he doesn’t have a better effective field goal percentage.
