I actually made a thread about this and I was told I’m an idiot. Basically, the longer he plays and doesn’t win, the more it hurts his legacy.
At the very minimum it has made people comfortable with slotting hims as “the longevity guy” and separating him from “peak talks” as stupid as it is ageing too well may hurt him with nba fans

Yeah absolute peak LeBron is the only player ever you could argue was simulatenously the best scorer, playmaker, and defender in the league, but his Points/Rebounds/Assists has stayed at similar levels throughout his career so people think can’t truly comprehend how much better he used to be.
Vince Carter was the longevity guy for a while. He was not playing anywhere near Lebron at this age though

A person turning 105 years old is significantly more exceptional turning 100, which is significantly more exceptional than turning 95.
People need to realize that when considering what Lebron is still adding to his legacy.
He was Top 5 for sure, but Giannis and AD absolutely had cases that year as well.
The league shut down right after Giannis got injured, and LeBron had just come off a weekend where the Lakers beat the Bucks and the Clippers b2b with LeBron outplaying Kawhi and Giannis.
It’s of course no guarantee, but had the season continued, LeBron was pretty likely to have won another MVP with Giannis injured and the Lakers taking 1st seed in the West. As for the playoffs, the only player close to LeBron was AD, they were top 2.
No they didn’t, basically no one believed AD was better than LeBron at the time. You had your random Skips or whatever but genuinely was not the case for non crazies. Giannis had a convo in the regular season but his “limitations” offensively at the time were shown in the playoffs.
AD outplayed LeBron in the postseason (barely, but he did). Giannis was reigning 2 time MVP. Kawhi carried the raptors the year prior. LeBron was not the best in the world at the time, and judging it from this statline is like me posting a Harden 60 point triple double game and saying damn he really was the best in the league. Complete disregard of context
An entire season of stats within a career of consistent greatness is actually not like cherry picking a singular 60 point game! Thought you should know!

The AD takes are insane to me. AD was a great defender, but so much of his offense revolved around LeBron doing the work and setting him up in the first place
Giannis I agree had his claim, but I think the playoffs proved LeBron was better. Giannis was still somewhat easily walled out in the playoffs by a clever team like Miami. He hadn’t overcome that hurdle yet

Back to back fourth quarter beatdowns on the bucks and clippers. Probably the most hype random weekend I can remember
it was a spicy weekend, Clippers game was called Battle for LA and Lebron personally guarded Kawhi last quarter and win last possession against him. Same with Giannis, he guarded him so well 1 on 1, it was a 2 game statement from Lebron about MVP.
i remember the bucks were on pace for like 68 wins until the season shut down. usually winning 65+ games gets u the MVP unless someone else has more (kobe 2009 losin to Bron) or it was a superteam (08 celtics, 17 warriors). and with giannis dpoy, and being the younger guy, they’d prolly still give it to him.
i actually think lebron’s 5th mvp should’ve been 2018 but again, harden had other snubs and they didn’t wanna ignore his 65 wins
I think you are forgetting that giannis got hurt around the covid break, if giannis missed the last 15 games of the season it may have mpved the mvp to lebron

It goes by quickly in the beginning, but the switch onto Murray is why Bron in the zone is so fucking demoralizing for teams - Murray was injured, so of course LeBron gets that switch, and you can see him looking for it on the next couple plays. Denver’s good enough to recognize that and hide Murray, but if this wasn’t already the end of the game or if Denver hadn’t spotted it, LeBron would’ve called for that switch every play until they did. That’s why the man’s so terrifying when he locks in - he’s the fucking terminator. KD will give you room so he can say he beat you fair and square, LeBron will find your weakness and then just grind you into the ground with it.
