Franz is so underrated, especially defensively.
I personally think the most underrated player in the league.
I can absolutely believe it and I felt it coming the moment Franz was ruled out. He was the single most important part of our game plan, especially guarding Cade. He’s the only guy on the roster with the size and quickness to keep up. Once he was gone, the whole thing fell apart.

I wish people would post the poster on Duncan Robinson that was actually Duren’s fault. I don’t remember which Orlando guard it was but we were icing them on the perimeter and cut off his lane.
Then Duren made a stupid lunge for a steal, which opened up a hole for him to get through and he had a clear lane to the basket.
I never want to see Duren going for steals on the perimeter ever again. It’s never actually going to work and it fucks up his positioning.

Its true that the vast majority of centers are getting postered there, Duren is a surprisingly average rim protecting center for an all-nba center with a limited offensive package who is seeking ~$50M/year. Only a 9’1” standing reach & a career 0.9 blocks per game. His Diff% of Defended FG% to FG% within 6ft was only 5.7%, about the same as DeAndre Ayton. Can’t even blame it on Detroit’s system as his back up, Isaiah stewart, led the lead in diff% at 22.8% and had double Duren blocks in fewer minutes. I don’t really know the Pistons situation well, I wonder why they moved off Beef stew before they had their Duren situation figured out?

Duren’s best attribute is potential. If you look at what he is versus what you hope he could be, the contract offered to him is more than fair. His representation would like you to think he’s a year away from becoming prime Dwight but he’s not that guy in practice. If he was, this negotiation would’ve been an email
