Yup, it’s across football and basketball now. Not a fan. I love the monotone old guy “Doncic for 3, pass complete to the 47, etc” Were the lakers the last team to have that style of PA?
Football has the problem of the generic uber-baritones a la Alan Roach who all come off as super corporate.
Losing him is tough. Stu Lantz has been going through some health issues as well.

I was there. I have season tickets for the next few seasons, and I was just thinking next season will be like going on Pirates of the Caribbean, and just hearing a new voice through the whole ride you’ve only known one way, and it feeling “off” and wierd.
I have known that voice for so long, it will feel entirely wrong.
I hope they do a pretty great remembrance for him.
Hearing Tanter announce your name for the first time has to be surreal no matter how many years you’ve been in the league.

I’ve hated the Lakers for 45 years but he was easily the best arena announcer, just sounded cool and didn’t do the stupid hype up voice.
As much as I hate the Lakers, going to a game at Staples in 2008 and feeling the whole awesome atmosphere and realizing how great their fans were was a tremendous experience.
Notice how Luka doesn’t even want to be there.
Because he realized that the Lakers won’t tolerate a chubby European. The culture has always been built on athletic excellence. All the superstars have been athletes who can defend. Luka Doncic has yet to prove he is even NBA caliber in these areas.
The Lakers are anything but excellent. They are overrated and have been living in the past thinking about the Kobe days. Even when that era was pretentious because of the gambling scandal and refs letting Kobe get away with fouls.

Yeah Luka is DEFINITELY better as a basketball player and as a Laker even when Kobe won rings for the Lakers.
