Mac McClung turned down more than 10 EuroLeague offers: “I didn’t want to chase the most money”. The American guard chose FIATC Girona (the team founded and owned by Marc Gasol) despite receiving numerous offers over the past two years, prioritizing the right environment over financial incentives.
Mac McClung had plenty of options, but ultimately chose FIATC Girona by following his instincts. Over the past two years, the American guard received more than 10 offers from EuroLeague clubs, yet money was not the deciding factor.
“I told my agent, ‘I don’t want to chase the most money. It doesn’t matter,’” McClung told Andreu Coll. Conversations with Moncho Fernández, Fernando San Emeterio and Marc Gasol quickly convinced him.
“My agent and I agreed on following our hearts. When I talked to them, I think this feels like home,” McClung said. He added that his priority was finding “somewhere that kind of felt like home away from home.”
