Earlier in his career he had bought his hometown team in Czechia, and after leaving the NHL in 2018, he joined it. He’s been on the team ever since. He’s 54. He first played in the NHL a year before Bill Clinton even announced he was running for President. The first top level professional game he played was actually in Czechoslovakia when it was part of the USSR… during Reagan’s presidency.

Women have always been physically capable of catching up to men when it comes to handling, shooting, footwork, etc.

IMO the core issue for people taking the game more seriously are symptoms of the difference in vertical-ness. Shots that guys like Gobert have been dunking since they were 12 are contested layups in the women’s game. Fast break opportunities are almost automatic in the NBA because they can fly 4’ in the air from the free throw line, whereas a fast break layup in the WNBA feels like it has the same chance of going in as a 50 yard field goal.

Yeah, that’s certainly true, but at least then he’s not OBLIGATED to do it, and I think that was more the point that I poorly got across. Exactly, unlike the WNBA and PWHL (and women’s soccer for that matter) they just don’t have the athletes yet. Have to resort to gimmicks like supercharged bats and such so they can hit a hundred HRs. Not everyone has a hoop in a gym that can be lowered. That’s the reason I’ve heard given by WNBA players at least. That it would harm development.

Its true, I actually watch their games and the truth is if they were competing at the same time as the NBA season it wouldnt be a competition for viewership.
