99.7 percent in the bottom of the 8th is a leftover, not a promise. At 9-3 that number says almost every remaining script is a Giants win. The 0.3 percent is the tiny set of 9ths where Cincinnati still climbs out. Those paths were always on the chart. They are just rare.
The useful check is whether the rest of the board agreed with that leftover. Live moneyline, remaining total, and the next few run markets have to describe the same 9th. If San Francisco is 99.7 percent and the same book still has a live over that needs a big Cincinnati inning, those two cannot both be the remaining game. If they line up, the collapse is just the 0.3 percent drawing.
One 9th does not rewrite the 8th-inning number. It tells you which leftover script got used.
That is the check I run at SimTheGame. Treat every priced market as true and ask what remaining scripts are still live. If the win probability and the remaining run markets cannot produce one 9th, the interesting part is the leak.
