Ranged classes are able to move freely when casting. Do they think melee will also have that ability down the line?

For 0.5 they’ve said they’ll take a look at nerfing “+level to skills” and look at it again post-0.5 if the changes were not enough: Well the changes were definitely far from enough. They touched it with a feather and then proceeded to make the problem worse by almost doubling the amount of +level to skills in the game.

They could cut the numerical value of all “+ to level” affixes currently in the game by half and we would just barely be back at patch 0.3 or 0.4 levels of “+ level to skills” which people were already vocal about being too high and bad for the game back then when it was mostly just +5 on weapons and +3 on jewelry (mandatory affix, makes most rare drops worthless, makes most uniques not able to compete). And now we have +9 to +11 to “level of x skills” weapons, +6 amulets…

Most of the community agrees that the very light nerfs they did to “+level to skills” were more cosmetic than anything and any minor effects they would have otherwise had were counteracted by them adding huge amounts more of that stat into the game (especially for casters)

With +2 (+3) from Aldurs legacy (lifesprig), runeseeker wand, new +spell level alloys, +6 amulets (for any skill type) and even +1 spell level rings of which you can have 2x, the new socketable crafting runes that give + levels to skills and other new sources of that stat (like boosting +level implicits with the new orbs); we now have way more “+level to skills” than we’ve ever had before by an extreme margin making it even more problematic. As just one example: We used to have maximum +5 spell level wands, now we can easily have +9 to +10 or +11 spell level caster weapons.

Without that affix wands and staffs as well as most other gear is worthless and the relative power of +levels compared to any other affix you can get on gear is demolishing gear affix diversity. +level to skills as an affix is often better than the next 2-3 best affixes combined. The best gear for 99% of builds is getting as much +level to skills as possible, on every gear piece possible, and 99.99% of weapons/wands/amulets are “worthless” on trade league without that affix at T1 because it’s so strong.

This also makes all uniques much worse and stifles unique creative builds because most uniques can never compete with a +5 to +11 “to level” weapons or +2/+4 gloves, +3 to +6 amulets etc.

Almost everyone wants the importance of +level to skills reduced, so could you ask GGG please take a look at it again & reduce it across the board? We need heavier reductions and not even more sources of +level inflation because its getting absurd how much of this stat we are getting for how much more powerful it is than anything else in the game.

It’s one of the few areas of the game where the community at large actually wants its own power reduced, because its too powerful and crowding out everything else, so it seems like a no-brainer change when we as players are already powercrept to all heck and back and we aren’t even in 1.0 yet.

Cast on CRIT/cast on ea is featured in every single build that casts spells. There is no choice to use these or not, it’s simply pay 100 spirit to 3x your dps, so every build is better for using them. Are there plans for simply nerfing these or buffing other spirit skills? I mean the CoC comet meme is actually real guys and every caster build is just spammable spell + coc.

Any update on Uber Bosses and if that’s something we might see tested in the Mini-League(s)? Most bosses just tend to fall over even with minimal gear which is a shame because the fights are so cool.

They previously mentioned Armour + ES hybrid is the weakest defensive archetype in the game and they’d change / buff it in the future.

I’ve played it this league and can confirm it’s very lacking.

I really don’t like how tablets feel random, like in poe1 you just have to trade for scarabs that have fixed affixs. So let’s say we have a new farm its “ okay let me get the 5 scarabs and its done”, in POE2 you have to go to trade site specify 4 mods (very high end) and then see its cost 20 divs for a single tablet. Like i think we never had a single scarab costing more than 5 div (maybe some old winged ones , idk i didn’t play as much them). And to drop these tablets and to roll yourself is a even worse struggle

As early access has progressed, the game seems to have become easier and easier. The amount of player skill and player knowledge needed to overcome obstacles feels reduced all the way from level 1 to late endgame. Is this an intentional shift? Is the game ever going to focus on challenge again vs just time investment?

With parry being a large focus for swords, and parried hits counted as blocks, are we getting a revamped implementation of dual wield block chance?

Also with parry in mind, we have support gems that inhibit the use of charges on skills, is there any consideration about support gems for inhibit skills from consuming debuffs, like parry, so players have better chances of not consuming them accidentally.

Any plans on improving visual clarity of skills? It’s kinda crazy that we can’t even turn off the effects of other party members.

Life leech was nerfed because of the very top end, but it impacted a lot more than i would like for ““normal endgame builds”“. Any chance for it being adressed until 1.0?

Does GGG plan iterating on the first round of basic attacks? For example: Mace Strike, Staff Strike etc are in stark contrast with the more recent druid basic attacks like Shred. It would be great to see those old basic attacks come up to par with a touch more differentiation.

What are their thoughts on spell infusions? I personally feel they are not fun to play with and there are limited options to play magic caster without them. Why are base spells not good by themselves with infusions being side grades instead of pure upgrades?

The reason everyone stacks es is because armor literally does nothing and evasion is not bad but deflect is almost required.

Are Defensive options getting a hard look? Energy shield is just so much beyond the other defenses due to the lack of weaknesses… Even with a 30% nerf to all energy shield values it would be the Nr. 1 defense. I don’t like the design of Energy shield as it has the same issues as in PoE1.

Any plan to have a way to look at all the ascendancy in game at character selection? I hate having to go to an external source to look them up. Sometime I don’t know what I’m gonna do and just a quick look up at the ascendancy would help.

I don’t know what patch 0.5.5 would look like, but in case they didn’t fix some of the problems with armour and life, here is my question:

ES and EV archetypes don’t have the same affix pressure as a Strength/Armour/Life build. As a melee Warrior/mace user, we have to solve many puzzles that conflict with each other, whereas an ES or EV character just has to spec into their respective defenses via the tree and gear.

Warriors, on the other hand, have terrible nodes, terrible pathing to useful nodes, awful downsides, and if you don’t roll life, you’re losing a lot of armour because both are prefixes. If you don’t roll Strength on every piece of gear, you’re also losing life while at the same time losing one suffix, which you need for resistances. The “Armour applies to Elemental Damage” mod also competes with other suffixes, such as Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence, which you need to meet the requirements of certain skill gems.

Mark spoke on the Arbiter of Ash fight with regards to him being chilled and doing that deadly combo.

Can they speak more on how they’ll work out the difficulty curve? The Arbiter of Ash fight is significantly more difficult than the Arbiter of Divinity fight, yet the atlas progression has us fight Ash before Divinity. Will that be adjusted in 0.5.5? 1.0?

There are quite a few Atlas related annoyances and bugs(?) that really should be addressed. Are they (GGG) aware of those and have them fixed in 0.5.5?

Please, never implement a skip campaign option, but perhaps an option for the new alt character(s) to expedite the leveling process via a new version of the interludes ONCE all atlas nodes have been unlocked?

Can we get more opportunities to spec into effectiveness instead of just insane pack size? During the 0.4 q&a, that was mentioned as a goal for the endgame revamp, but I feel like we don’t have enough choices on the atlas tree to really tell a difference.

I really really want to know if they have any plans to update mace skills in the future, many of them feel extremely clunky and slow to use without lots of investment, and being unable to move during those animations

Can you ask about pinnacle/high tier skill gems for bone spells; the overall power fantasy for osteomancy feels a big lacking

Additionally, a lot of the physical clusters on the INT side of the tree are fairly scattered compared to elemental ones and the bleed clusters feel underwhelming

Heya Ziggy! The Duelist trailer showcased a lot of parry and dual wield action but both these archetypes are in need of love. What kind of passive tree and itemization changes can we expect to help improve these?

Will we continue to shift towards fast paced poe1 gameplay or will poe2 be slower. With swords again it seems like mostly melee classes have this more slow methodical gameplay which i expected of poe2 coming from 0.1. With more patches added ranged classes are getting faster and faster and nearly indistinguishly from poe1. Even teleporting nonstop. Its in itself fine but i thought poe2 would be moving in another direction.

Any chances for massive Fire Spells rework, especially Incinerate that’s literally even more unusable since 0.3 than it was before?

When poe2 first came out campaign felt slower with methodical gameplay, with poe1 being for zooming, and it feels like poe2 is drifting closer and close to poe1 zooming every patch (particularly in the end game).

This question is addressing the age old issue of campaign skip. I dont believe the campaign should outright be skippable post end game, but just as well they themselves are limiting the longevity of any given league by having such a tedious process gate keep what players actually enjoy. The end game progression loop and gamba (whether drops or crafting).

Would you ever consider adding build slots to characters? This would increase the value of any given leveled toon drastically. This wouldn’t remove the campaign if you ran out of build slots or you wanted a completely different character, but it would allow a lot exploration with 1 toon.

I for one would be interested in leveling multiple characters irregardless of league because of how much value you get per toon in such a scenario.

I obviously dont know if changes to that matter will be annoucned anyways, but i really want to hear GGGs thought on dots. I strongly dislike how ignite works in poe2 compared to poe1.

I’ve seen someone mention that parry is a precondition for skills such as cyclone. How well will skills with parry conditions scale into heavily juiced endgame environments with increased mob density and one-shot potential? Will clearing maps/bosses with parry preconditions still feel smooth/scalable in these environments relative to other skills?

Hey! Maybe a bit off-topic, but as we’ve seen recently, there’s been quite a bit of interest in PoE2 racing. I’ve been around long enough to remember PoE1 races, but I got to admit speedrunning PoE2 feels somehow better than 1 and it can really be something enjoyable in the future. I’d say it’s good to strike the iron while it’s hot - we can see nice viewership for qualifiers (and previous races, kinda too), you do great job with Raiz to make it fun and I’d love to know how they plan to support racing community after 1.0 - that’s one thing, the other - more important question - can we please get rid of this level till 27 and then ignore monsters and run through campaign meta? It’s been fun, but starts getting quite old. My idea - invert scaling of monsters - the lower level below the zone you are, the logarithmically harder it gets to kill mosters (easy enough beign 3-4 levels below, gets exponentially more 5+)? Doesn’t impact regular players as much, but fixes the racing issue. Cheers! :)

Will PoE2 1.0 slow things down in the endgame to match the tactical pace of the campaign more? As it currently stands, the campaign in SSF nails the pace of combat, but trade/monster density ruins it later.

Parry seems to be a thing for the class, what are they changing so that parry isn’t totally shite?

Does the team think about how releasing a single new weapon and class just messes with the economy and the dangers of one skill being overly broken? Can we have mid-league nerfs back?
