I was surprised by this too. But he also played in era with less home runs. In the 70s he led the majors in homers 3 seasons in a row without hitting more than 38 in any of those years.

There’s something very satisfying to a schwarbomb that is just the flick of his wrists. It’s like when Michael Vick used to throw a deep ball, can’t explain it outside of “effortless”

When my oldest son wanted to take baseball more serious I watched a lot of hitting videos on YouTube. Schwarber has random interviews that go over his approach and they’re really good. He’s a cerebral hitter, looking to bait pitchers into throwing him something he’s looking for.
Freddy freeman also has some really insightful stuff and openly shares what works for him.
Both of those guys are the guys you want at the plate in the 9th, when the game is on the line.
