Blue Jays fans have officially eaten one million $1 hot dogs this season
Why isn’t the article correctly titled? Loonie dogs.
100%.
If we say \(1, and people think USD, we’re off; these are really like \)0.75 USD dogs, which is a way better deal.
Wait are hot dogs at blue jay games really that cheap?
Only on Tuesdays.
Yes. A looney is \(1 CAD \~ \)0.75 USD (looks like $0.72 USD based on today’s exchange rate)
Don’t get me wrong, people get paid in Canadian so it isn’t 1:1, but it is insanely cheap.
Edit: that’s why they’re limiting quantities.
I never understood this meme.
Isn’t the guy in the beige sportcoat, red shirt and mustard tie also an obvious suspect?!

I love the idea that your friend is talking about money all the time and you’re thinking he’s talking about hot dogs.
I don’t believe that woman’s sign 🤨
I mean, if you can’t trust a person in a hot dog costume giving a look over the top of their sunglasses at a Blue Jays game, who can you trust?
“Joey Chestnut just beat the shit outta that dude, and then stuffed 3 glizzies down his throat!”
I literally was quoting this before reading your comment
i need to know what this quote is from lmao
About 20 seconds into this video, enjoy https://youtu.be/XB7bWSgeheU?is=WuFxy6BCGPVB9Dzu
LMFAO that’s amazing, thank you
WHY ARE WE YELLING?
You underestimate a Canadians love for loonie dogs
How many hot dogs do you eat in a day, Tim?
She’d need to be hospitalized
I think we’re gonna need a second opinion.
<pile_of_hotdogs_to_face.gif>
I don’t know if the actual image violates rules, and I don’t want to find out because I need baseball.
Serious response to your joke: in the Expos’ final seasons, their largest attendance games, by far, often coincided with dollar hot dog promotions as well.
It looks like a teenager
It’s not a World Series Trophy for sure
Every year there’s a world series winner. How many can claim one million hot dogs? Blue Jays are literally the GOAT franchise.
Hope they go back to back next year
Hey, that is a lot of hotdogs
It was all Phil Kessel

Greatest Day With The Cup card ever
Praise be
Inshallah
The Jays need to invite Phil Kessel to a game on Tuesday night now.

More adults under 50 are being diagnosed with colon cancer than ever before.
Delicious nitrates
Gee, Thanks Debbie
By the way, it’s official: I can’t have children.
Obviously this is a joke, but I highly recommend everyone after the age of 35 to get a scan. I’m 33 and I’ve gotten two.

Fuh goin on ova there in Canada?
we’re doing our best ok
Sounds like you’re thriving to me. Affordable concessions is pretty friggin cool
The hot dogs numb the pain okay
It’s been A Week and we’re coping as best we can (inhaling hot dogs at a Joey Chestnut-esque clip)
We just living our best lives.
It’s an outlet to make the fans feel like they’re contributing to the team somehow.
Jays fans ate a million loonie dogs before Vladdy hit a homer in Toronto
Fans have been carrying this team the whole year.
and people in here say the team can’t afford giveaways for every ticket holder lmao
It’s not about affording it, they’re promotional events they limit the numbers so people line up and all those people walk into the ballpark multiple hours before the game and spend more money. If everyone with a ticket got a giveaway item there would be no incentive to get there early. They are a business after all
I think a lot of it is about generating hype. This city loves line-ups so they are a way to demonstrate support I guess lol
And what does the hype translate into?
Money
And what does Rogers have enough of?
Money!
I didn’t say it wasnt about money. Just that I think there more interested in overall hype then just concession sales. More about ticket prices and just getting more fans to spend money in general.
Not sure what you’re even saying lol
OH, so its about money? Lmao, do you hear yourself
Yes. Every decision is about money.
With giveaways, the incentive is to get people to come to the stadium earlier than usual, and now they have an extra 60-90 minutes to kill buying things they may not have otherwise bought.
If Rogers wanted to give away free stuff, they would (and they do - I won free tickets to an ALCS game from a random display in Union Station where 50% of entries won free tickets). These promos are about selling more tickets and more food and merch more than being a ‘thank you’ to fans.
The point that you missed was “Rogers has enough money that they should give every ticket holder a giveaway item, they don’t need to rip more money out of real peoples hands.” Why are you so gung ho about defending billion dollar companies over your fellow man?
It’s OK to be idealist, but live in the real world please.
Rogers does have enough money to give us all a free jersey. But if they do that too much, they become less profitable, and then the shareholders/directors require them to sell the team because it doesn’t make enough money. At the end of the day, Rogers is a business whether you acknowledge it or not.
When did a factual discussion become “defending” what they do rather than explaining what they do.
It’s OK to be a bootlicker but please don’t confuse ‘idealism’ with calling out shameless corporate greed. I expect a multi-billion dollar corporation to treat paying fans with a little respect instead of engineering artificially scarce lines to extract extra even more beer money (If you go to the games you know how expensive those beers are). Bootlicking their profit margins won’t get you a free bobblehead buddy
On what planet have you come to “expect” a multi-billion dollar corporation to do anything in your best interest, and not its best interest?
Serious question.
I’m a “bootlicker” because I already understood that they don’t care about you or me individually, and tried to tell you why?
I live On the planet where consumers actually hold businesses accountable instead of making excuses for them. You’re a bootlicker because you treat corporate greed like an unchangeable law of physics instead of a choice they make.
Accepting that a company doesn’t care about you is fine; acting like fans aren’t allowed to demand better or call them out for squeezing every nickel is just roll-over apathy.
You’re confusing understanding corporate greed with normalizing it
Dude wtf are you talking about?
Are you seriously getting in an argument about holding a corporation accountable to 30,000 ticket holders for fucking baseball giveaways? This isn’t the Hamburger Hill you think it is - it’s hot dogs.
Doesn’t Schneider’s sponsor the cheap hotdogs on Tuesdays?
Their attendance this year is around 2.7M. So about 1 $1 hot dog for every 3 people who go to a game.
Loonie dog is only on home Tuesday games
go to bref and get the Tues home games
Looks like attendance of 455,666 from the 11 games. So just under 2.2 hot dogs per person who attended
Can’t slug if our lives depended on it, but we definitely can deep throat some glizzys 🤝
That in CAD?
Yes. A loonie in fact
Yes so it’s 1 million 72 cent USD dogs.
How are they? Like tiny and rubbery?
Average Schneiders dog. Not cheap. Not amazing.
Standard hot dog, tbh. I like mine with just mustard on it.
This is the way.
The normal sized dogs you get in a pack of 12. Just basic hot dogs from a local but popular brand. Schneiders.
Eh honestly they’re a little small. But it’s a dollar so it hits just right
No idea. Just know they cost a loonie.
Haven’t been to Toronto in like 15 years.
Ah. So you are a secret Canadian.
Flying to Ontario is just expensive, lol
Fairly lousy. They have a vegetarian option too those nights, but they are not good either.
I feel like veggie dogs have to be very well spiced and have some decent texture to even be close to good.
The veggie dogs are only at a small amount of booths, so they’re not even easy to get. I have gout issues and took a chance on the regular dogs to save me a 20 minute wait.
I contributed four hot dogs. No regrets.
I contributed
Anyone know the cost per hot dog to provide them? Just curious how much of a loss-leader this is for them or if they actually break even. Also curious if their overall food and drink concession rises or falls because they may get less food profits but may get more beverage profits.
I’m sure they get more in beverages, you can’t just raw dog a dog.
I saw someone do an analysis a couple years ago and it came out to about break even on each dog
Yeah I’d guess it’s pretty close to even as well. It’s a small hot dog, and I don’t think some people realize how cheap the bread / meat is in the bulk the buy it in.
I’d bet it’s like $1.15 per dog which is immediately offset in spades by even one drink purchase.
Almost certainly a loss leader for game tickets + beers.
I can get a 24 pack of kosher dogs from the store for like $16 bucks. I’m sure they can them and the buns even cheaper in mass bulk
I thought Costco’s 1.50 was still profitable as is, just the profit isnt as much.
Schneiders hot dogs is a partner with the Blue Jays. So that plus the volume they’re buying I have to imagine they’re getting a pretty decent discount. I have a hard time imagining that they are losing money on it, but they might be breaking even.
And it’s a huge promotional thing. People dress up in hot dog costumes, there’s a counter for how many dogs sold that night, and the broadcast always highlights the event.
What about the people who ate the hot dogs but don’t like the blue jays ? How many did they eat ?
It says in the post title?
it says fans
I think the joke is that us Blue Jays fans don’t like the Blue Jays right now.
In other news, GI docs are reporting surging demand for their services
It’s Canada so at least we don’t have to pay out of pocket for their services. Those tax dollars are putting in work!
oh my god. you look like the 4th 1st of july
That’s 72 cents dogs for you Americans.
Gonna be 54 cent dogs next season. Or worse.
What’s the conversion rate of Canadian to American hotdogs?
Hard to tell these days with all the tariffs flying around.
I guess Phil Kessel was back in town
I bet Steve Simmons was thrilled.
Such irresponsible stewardship of universal healthcare

Facts, and we got shirts to celebrate last night!
92,500 dogs a night is wild stuff
In a row?!
At least the Blue Jays have done something successful at home this season
That’s roughly 75 mi of hot dogs consumed
120.7 kilometres, thank you very much…
🇨🇦
I love Canada, but it will be a cold day in hell before I recognize kilometers as a unit of distance
5-🍅 for life
To be fair we only really use it as a distance while driving. Anything shorter than 50 meters we use Feet.
Makes sense. Walking anything under 50 meters is far more practical than driving.
you must hate the olympics
The mountains? No, they’re great. I can see them from my back yard
GROSS
I heard Kobayashi has eaten 100,000 of those himself so far
Hit dongs? No.
Eat hot dongs? Yes.
And I helped
Meanwhile, single A Dunedin limits you to two $2 Wednesday hot dogs per transaction
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE
I mean \(1 Nolan Ryan Beef Hotdog Tuesdays was a thing for a long time while I lived in Houston. Cheapest date night you could imagine; \)5 ticket & $5 hot dogs and you’re golden
I was part of that!!… I’m going to choose to not mention how many I consumed……
John Middleton, this could be you, but no. We have to have BOGO Hot Dog nights
Imagine if Costco owned a stadium and all the food was just Costco food court items at their normal price.
I’m a vegetarian but my husband ate 7 dogs so we did our part as a household.
Bragging or complaining???
I think if you look in the garbage cans, you’ll find it’s 1 million sold, but not necessarily 1 million eaten.
*officially purchased - who knows how many were dropped.
$1 hot dogs that’s amazing
Weird to think I’m more proud of the Jays fans eating hotdogs than I am of the actual team playing baseball this year…
And that’s why they’re in last place in the division.
Slackers.
Thats a lot of sausage… not as much as they ate during game 7 though.
it’s a cool promotion and all but they’re pretty shitty dogs compared to the regular and footlong/other hotdog offerings. I guess when they’re that cheap you can’t be too picky.
You must be an incredibly insufferable person.
i take my hotdogs seriously
Where do you rank the Costco dog?
Polish Sausage, not the hot dog for me but the 12 packs or whatever to grill it myself. I understand why they’re not in the store but if you’re able to, actually on a BBQ is where it’s at.
I think they’re decent though
You may be chastised but you speak the truth.
I put a bad hot dog up there with bad pizza for food disappointment level.
i did the loonie dog game once and was disappointed with how much worse they are than the normal $4 one or whatever. Like i get why it’s like that it has to be the small cheap stuff but given that there’s so many better things at a Jays game (calamari, fried pickles, kazadillas now) i dont even bother with any hot dog when i go.
It takes 80 million gallons of water to create one million pork hot dogs
what a waste
This pretty sums up the Blue Jays organization.
