Companies typically do these things because the target goals fall within expectations they form from existing metrics.
Yeah I don’t think I’ve ever seen a community counter fail outside of something like Helldivers where it’s an integral part of the game.

At the end of the video they had a link to register your email (doesn’t have to be linked to your account) to get a free cosmetic (helmet attachment) and then the rest of the rewards are given with that same code we’ll all get on 12/11/26 when the game launches IF they hit those milestones of 1mil, 2mil, 3mil, 4mil. The code will work for anyone, so even if you don’t wanna play, you can give the code to someone else. Or for example your friends don’t want it but wanna help out they can sign up.

Pets are kinda visual clutter and inconsistent to even see, it’s like if you equip sunglasses, it’ll look good when you’re in HO standing still but when you get to mapping you won’t see it.

They can be used as decorations, I’ve got several running around my hideout in both games.

Yeah, I get what you mean, I have the flying imp that was release with 0.5 and it is an absolute horror to navigate maps with this thing around!
You can place a pet in your hideout and they just roam around there
This is the best way to utilize pet MTX, i love my little spider and scorpion just hopskippin around and nippin randos legs while they browse my shady shopkeepers inventory.
Even worse is if they are large pets that look like mobs.
I only use small pets for that reason. Ive gotten killed because I attacked my pet instead of a mob when I needed life steal.
my pets are in my hideout. No need to make more clutter in map or a public hub.

Yeah I think so too, in poe1 I liked most league rewards having wings as the 2nd last option (last included a pretty daunting “end game grinds” section (idk if you’ve played it) that took significantly longer than anything else and if my memory serves most options weren’t even realistic to complete for all builds.
I have many and had my look chosen in poe1, but they hadn’t ported most, if any league rewards to poe2. Maybe they’ll do that for full release?

These sorts of things are nothing more than advertising stunts. All goals will be met, regardless of the true numbers, because not meeting them reflects poorly on the company and the game. No one self inflicts that wound.

It’s registering for spam mail, not specifically having an account. I’m assuming they’ll send a code to the registered email that you’d then activate on your actual account.

Don’t worry, those milestone events are always fake. Even if we will be short, devs will simply ramp up the numbers on backend. Not like we have any way of checking if those numbers are legitimate.

No they stated that full release doesnt mean all the classes. Most likely means that the campaign is finished. My money is on swords coming in 1.0 and templar coming in 1.1

This is a great idea. We are going to inflate this number through the roof, they are going to increase server capacity much more than needed and then we can play the game on launch without disconnects and lag.
You don’t even need to have multiple accounts tho. Adding a suffix + at the end of your email address (before the domain (@)) is going to be stripped off and emails are still going to reach your main address. E.g. staysane@exile.com and staysane+1@exile.com are going to receive both emails but should be treated as 2 different addresses internally.

You register the mail, you get the code on mail, doesn’t matter if you play via steam/ client, you enter that code from mail in game for the rewards

I had a guild mate argue that 4mil was a lofty goal. I reminded them that this was a newsletter signup that people on reddit would 100% automate filling out the form and signing up.
It can be cheesed it can be broken and having until December 11tg to do it. (At least 70 days)
One person automating 1000 emails an hour over 70 days would give us 1.68mil artificial signups. Toss in that at least 100 people will do something like this…and you have well over 4mil signups
