On pathofexile2.com the base class is called the gladiator. Would be weird for them to showcase an ascendancie called the duelist.

i think duelist does not exist in poe2 (maybe as an ascendancie we don’t know yet)

I’m a bit of a newbie on the series (started playing a couple months ago because of the sale) and have had lots of fun! That being said, I’m curious about a skill from PoE 1 and if there’s a possibility of it coming to PoE 2: Spectral Throw

I don’t really understand a lot about how the classes/skills work on the first game, so what would the equivalent weapon type on PoE 2 for it to possibly come? I understand it probably would work on multiple weapons, but I wonder if it would be on the duelist skill gem tree, or assassin, or something like that which isn’t released yet.

I just really like the idea of throwing flying magical swords around and stuff!

Fill prefixes and use essence of breach to get to +40% should generally be the rule. Then you can whittle it off and then slam the other essence you want. As a rule of thumb desecration should be last, unless you use it as a blocker for whittling other mods (which I guess you won’t be doing)

aaaah i got it: you mean i should go breach to put quality all the way up to 40% with catalyst. and THEN, while it’s a 40% use essence of the mind

all fo this while hoping it the 1st one erase evasion and the second (mind) erase only the 20 quality boost (that will stay post catalyst slam)

You cant use another essence before you remove the essence of the breach, so you have to whittle it first. As I checked the picture again your suffixes aren’t full, which is good, whittle and pray you add a suffix and not a prefix, then use the omen to remove a suffix for the last essence I guess.

Eddit: Also if i want to use perfect essence of mind, should using two essence that remove one of my 3 prefix be terrible i mean what are the odd that essence of the breach gonna replace the t1 evasion and then essence of the mind replace the essence of the breach?

The question is what do i do with the open suffix ? exalt ? desecrate ? Will filling the suffix before uusing a prefix altering essence be better ? or ?

For the breach essence if you dont have prefixes full you can use the omen to remove a suffix, so your prefixes are safe. Sorry my advice to fill prefixes was bad.

After you get quality to 40% you have to whittle the essence of the breach away. If you really want to not risk the prefixes then you have to have a free suffix slot before you whittle and pray your whittle adds a suffix and not prefix. If it adds a prefix again try to whittle again and see if it removes the unwanted mod to ad a suffix. This can get expensive so idk if your two mods are worth it. But since you really want to perf essence again that goes into another 66% to remove a mod you want, I think this is the safest way to preserve your prefixes. Then again, check the market about these bases to see if you can handle the gamba on the essence vs buying the extra whittles + omens of dextral annulment (for suffixes whichever it is) to ensure the prefixes are safe.

I’m slightly confused with the recent announcement, is the game paid for early access, and free when fully released on Dec 11th? I saw Dec 11th free and I assumed it would be free until then, and paid afterwards, but it seems it’s the other way around? am i missing something?

The game is currently in paid early access until Dec 11th. It will be Free-to-Play after Dec 11th.

Paid early access comes with the full dollar value in store points.

Does anyone know if there will be a Paladin Armor Set for PoE2? I would like to have one for RP but the closet I can get is combining the Ghoulhunter set with the Witchhunter back piece.

There are already tons of paladin-y mtx in the shop, if not available in PoE2 then they will be ported to PoE2 from PoE1 over time.

When templar comes out there might probably be a fair few armor+energy shield str+int armor bases with a Templar theme just like they added some druidy armors when druid came out.

How do people force slam % extra physical damage and +3 attack skills on talismans if there’s only one crafted mod allowed on the item? I tried looking it up, but all the guides I see are for 0.4 crafting and appear obsolete.

I am a PoE2 noob. I understand that in general great yellow items are considered better than orange ones. That being said - I really like some of the orange ones, but they seem to loose relevance quite fast. For example - I really like The Dusk Vigil staff for the extra Ember Fusillade, but in act 2 I already needed to swap it for a yellow staff because of DPS. Is there any way to make orange items relevant in later acts? Ir is it just that some of those orange items will only be useful in act 1.

For context - I am not looking for some end-game powerhouse builds, just casual gameplay and campaign.

You could look on trade to get a high-level Dusk Vigil for cheap and use it on weapon swap specifically if you want the fusillade because items will downscale their skills to the highest level the character can use. For instance because Dusk Vigil has no level requirement to be used you could pick one with level 20 skill and use it from level 1 (at which point the skill will turn into level 1 Ember Fusillade) and grind to level 90 (It might be earlier than 90 I can’t remember the breakpoint) with it where it will once again grant a level 20 skill.

In a way it means that the item (or at least the skill(s) it grants) will level with you, but there might be a point where even while the ember fusillade will scale, the stats from the item will become a bottleneck, and you might have to find another way to scale (like archmage or whatever).

Granted skills typically have their own level (and attribute) requirements; these are independent of the item’s requirements to actually equip. If the character’s level or attributes are insufficient to meet the skill level, it will automatically scale down to the highest skill level that can be met. The requirements of the item do not limit this downscaling.

It is unfortunate in a way but the player outscaling most uniques past a point is intended. It’s a way to spice up the leveling to some extent where every now and then you’ll get a unique to make your act X (and maybe X+1) better and others you won’t.

It’s not impossible that later on there will be a mechanic similar to how some uniques can be upgraded at the verisium anvil to have better stats that will make dusk-vigil a better pick for later.

I finally got an Absent Cast on Crit amulet in SSF. I tried my luck and I got good prefixes and one good suffix. I need +3 all spells however… I know my chances are slim, but what odds are for an affix to be that suffix if I use chaos orbs? Would desecrate suffix, echo, omen of light annul be more optimal due to seeing 6 choices or is it just better to chaos slam that suffix first?

+3 spells is VERY very low if it’s not your first thing to chaos on that amulet. You have a ¹⁰⁰⁄₉₆₆₅₆ chance to get it and that’s if you’re only rolling suffixes. .1%

It goes down to 100 / (96656 + 72200) if you include prefixes. I would possibly consider settling or buying an amulet with +2 to save some money. .05%
