Is it though? Peak concurrent players at EA launch was half a million, and Jonathan said the game passed the expected 1 million server capacity in EA access sold for launch. Adding in the free to play market, there should be a fairly sharp increase in players interested.

Though I would assume the main roadblock is just getting the news out, and actually making people care about signing up for a newsletter to receive some random MTX.

yea, but it’s not player count, it’s people that willingly go there and put in their mail for cosmetics. which is a big hurdle probably even for 60% of people that will play the game at launch.

For what reason would they do that? The reward DOES require you to be playing the game, as it’s an in-game mtx, and can only be redeemed on one account. You think people will sign their friends up for marketing mails to get them mtx in a game they don’t even play?

Why would they need to sign up friend’s email addresses? It’s trivial to generate extras for free (or even just use permutations e.g.. with Google accounts, where adding extra periods before the @ symbol all count as the same address - though they may have accounted for this).

I expect they’ll be protected against large scale botting of extra signups, so it’s not like it’s going to hit 5 million instantly, but there’s bound to be a bunch of people signing up multiple accounts just to boost the numbers. Point is it doesn’t necessarily require 5 million active accounts to hit 5 million signups, because it doesn’t need to be redeemed or linked to a Poe account to count towards the goal

i’m not gacha player, but if i remember right, gacha community bars reward ingame rewards like exp, currency, extra pulls etc. but all these are just cosmetics, we get free pets all the time, it’s not that special and it doesn’t do anything.

We still have tomorrow’s Dev talk and Exilecon and like what… 4(?) months. so we probably can get there, or at least i don’t think devs intend not to give them to us.

Anyone else hasn’t gotten a second email after confirming? I signed up 8 hours ago and only got the “Confirm you’d like to receive updates” email.

Just now I singed up with a second email address just to be sure and instantly got a second “Path of Exile 2 Fully Launches as Free-to-Play on December 11 PST!” email. So I registered the first address a second time and also got the second email. I guess the first time didn’t work. Even thought it 100% said “Thank you for registering” after confirming it.
