He led the league in scoring every single full season he played except for his rookie year, but even then he still managed to lead the league in total points as a rookie.

That was another surprise to me. And also, the type of thing I was looking for. Like, if someone had asked me yesterday, “How many seasons did Karl Malone lead the NBA in scoring?” I would have said “At least once, probably twice?”. I am actually surprised to learn that he didn’t.
I mean, it makes sense…his peak scoring years were also Michael Jordan’s peak scoring years. But that Adrian Dantley, Bernard King and Alex English all led the NBA in scoring, and Malone didn’t, is a surprise, even if I can reason out why.

The thing about hypotheticals is that they can get really really long, especially in the NBA. Len Bias probably would have gotten RoY and MVP in a different world. But I don’t think anyone is unaware that he didn’t.
