Klay Thompson has officially arrived in Miami and now begins his tenure with the Heat.
i really love what the heat did this summer. if they can sign a backup point guard on a vet min, i think they will surely be a top 5 team in the east.
as a fan myself, i’ve just wanted to watch well coached, competitive basketball since jimmy left, and with a starting five of mitchell - klay - wiggins - giannis - bam, i’m really excited for the season :)

People are mistaking “deep” and “mediocre”. The reason the East is deep is because there is so many mediocre teams in the East, they all think they have a shot. Most of them do too. Because there is no good or legendary teams in the East.
Yeah it’s not necessarily a western conference deep from a few years ago where it felt like almost any team could win a championship. There’s a couple great teams and a lot of just good teams.
But at the same time, most people didn’t give the Knicks a chance this year. All year we said if it’s OKC vs SA in the WCF, that’s the real finals. But it wasn’t.

Call me crazy but I like Dru Smith. Nothing too fancy, doesn’t make mistakes and a demon on defense.
High steals numbers, takes charges and a total Spo guy. Anyone who has fought back from TWO season-ending injuries who works as hard as he does, deserves a shot.
I think the Heat will roll with him yeah - last season was his first taste of consistent minutes but the efficiency wasn’t there.
In no particular order: Cleveland, Philadelphia, NYK, Toronto (if the Kawhi trade goes through), Atlanta, Orlando all better than Miami for sure. Thinking that Klay Thompson is a starter on a competitive team is a meme.

Health and supporting cast are important factors for post season success. Imagine if a contender like the Celtics traded a durable MVP candidate like Jaylen Brown for an injury riddled veteran like Paul George. I think we all agree they’d be much worse.

1 playoff series win in 5 years but sure Giannis and Bam can lead that awful supporting cast to a ring.
I hope they can be as good as a team like the Celtics who were missing their best player last year and still put up 56 wins. They even had as many playoff series wins last year as Giannis has had in 5.

i am not the type of fan to be disappointed with my team if we don’t compete for a ring every year. i really just got tired of incoherent roster construction and play-in basketball, so even if it is a first round exit, as long as the team is playing good basketball, i’ll be happy
Extremely valid. The butler saga demanded better roster construction they never were willing to buy into. I’m hesitant to think this team does a lot but at least it looks like a team trying
part of the reason y we couldnt build a better roster was cuz our supermax player was really only a supermax player in the playoffs and he would miss a decent number of games. we also gave a big contract to his friend that he wanted on the team that hamstrung us after a season
plus duncan robinson completely losing his confidence after signing his big deal didnt up either
agreed. as a lifelong heat fan, all my friends and i have wanted was for the front office to try their best to improve, and we did that finally. now, if we perform poorly we cannot gripe about pat being asleep and it will solely be frustrations about the quality of play, which as a fan, is really what watching the sport should be about. really excited to see how spoelstra manages what is effectively a brand new team!

I find the heats offseason both puzzling and amusing. IMO a bad roster as a whole, but I know with Spo still at the helm, they’ll coach up a couple of guys no one has ever heard of into a starter and 40% 3pt shooter and miraculously make it deep into the playoffs when the east is as good as it’s ever been
