One of the best role players ever. The salary cap rules mess means we won’t see guys like this as often. They’d probably be hard to afford. OKC has a lot of good role players but they’ll all probably spread out in a few years to wherever they get paid big money vs moving around to different contenders.

I love Robert Horry for sure, one of the greatest role player ever, cold blooded shooter and very nice teammate… 

But what insane luck to play for the Hakeem Rockets, the Shaq & Kobe Lakers and the Duncan, Parker, Ginobili Spurs.

Dude was on three different legendary teams with at least a top 10 all time candidat.

Yeah sure he made those big shots ! But i feel he could have been a forgotten player with different franchise. An NBA career is also the luck to be at the right place at the right moment.

I was a kid at the time but did anyone else think Robert horry and will smith looked really similar at the time?

#1 seems highly unlikely but the most likely (if we got another LeBron type or Wemby stays healthy for a Kareem-like career0. #2 seems extremely unlikely but I could see scenarios where someone got lucky or strategic enough (LeBron might have ben able to do this if it were his priority). If I qualify it as 16 or more consecutive seasons that comprise a complete career where one won a 1st round series every year (vs. the same results in a shorter career), I think #3 seems the least likely to occur again (Wemby is already out and even LeBron didn’t come close to this).

Horry should be considered the GOAT because he has more rings than MJ, LBJ, & KB.

Recently saw the game 7 of the 2005 finals. Horry kept the Spurs alive through much of the game. Duncan’s shot wasn’t falling in until halfway through the third quarter, parker was just horrid. Only Manu & Horry kept them alive for a greater part of the game. Also shoutout to ben wallace who pretty much did everything for the pistons while others kinda sucked tbh.

Still, I think Achievement 2 is harder. I think anyone that gets Achievement 2 is likely to also get achievement 1.

Achievement 2 is impossible now: 2 championships in the same team!

None are particularly difficult. He’s a role player who who embraced his role and threw a towel in danny ainge’s face at the exact right moment. Right place, right time.

• Rockets - played with Hakeem
• Suns - played with prime Nash/Kidd
• Lakers - played with Shaq/Kobe
• Spurs - played with Manu, Tim, and TP

That said, he was clutch af. Not many people in the history of the league who I’d rather have with the ball in their hands in a clutch moment, and that’s saying something for a role player like him.

Who currently has a long-shot but somewhat realistic chance at achieving each Achievement?

- Achievement 1). "Winning 7 championships in the post-merger NBA"

This is the second hardest of the three, IMO. I mean, if we only consider current players that have at least two championship already, that list is only 11 names long with OG Anunoby as the youngest at 29 years of age. He's my guess, but can he win five more before retirement? 

• Achievement 2). “Winning at least 2 championships with 3 different teams.”

This is the hardest of the three! Maybe Lebron wins two in Philly, and then wins one more with either the Lakers, Heat or Cavs as their 15th man stat padding at the end of the bench to complete the trifecta. I can’t see anyone else in the league coming close.

- Achievement 3). "Not only making the playoffs in every season of his 16 year career but also winning a 1st round series in all 16 of them."

Imma hafta go with Dylan Harper. Wemby has already missed the playoffs twice, but because the mega giant is rookie Dylan Harper's teammate, the Spurs should make the playoffs and win the first round for each of the next 15 years. Of course that assumes there are no major injuries throwing things off track, which is a HUGE assumption for anyone's career that also needs healthy teammates.

Anyone have their own guesses as to which current players can achieve one of the “Triple Horrys”? Because as the OP says, no one will be able to achieve all three in one career ever again.

They’re not hard to break if someone good WANTS to break these records.

Example: any good role player could just sign with OKC, Spurs, or Knicks on short & cheap 1+1 deals and just change to whichever team they think are the best contenders the next 2 years.

But that player would be giving up a significant amount of money doing so. I think #3 is the easiest to break if you land with a decent team + you’re open to switching to contenders at a discounted rate. #1 will be the hardest to break because of the new apron rules.
