I love Tatum too much to go through this pain. I just know the second he puts up less than 25 people are gonna immediately scream we lost the trade and we should have traded him. Even if he plays around or better than JB did last season there will always be a nitpick. Atp he might have to average a triple double for the season just to even be considered a decent player. Oh and of course now the margin is 56 or more wins or else we lost the trade.

Knicks not going to back to back. Playing the Cavs, 76ers and baby Spurs tricked everyone. A bunch of teams with no experience. Kind of like the Warriors in 2022 where they played the Grizzlies, Mavs and the Celtics. Then they came back in 2023 and lost to a team with experience (Lakers).

Knicks run into the 76ers now with LeBron and Brown or the Thunder and I guarantee you fatigue sets in and they look human again. The last teams to go back to back are the Durant Warriors, maybe the greatest team of all time, and before that the Heatles, a prime LeBron led super team in a different era. These teams were wildly more talented than the teams they went up against outside of 1 playoff round.

The last team to even make 3 straight conference finals was us (2022-2024), Warriors (2015-2019), Cavs (2015-2018), Spurs (2012-2014) and Heat (2011-2014). Thunder have a chance this year too. Legit dynasties that average 57+ wins over a long stretch, not teams that can’t even crack 55 wins during a season and have 1 great playoff run.

They downgraded their backup Center, their 2 stars which will be 30 and 31 this season were extremely healthy last year (74 and 75 games), and every team is going to be giving them their best shot in a much improved East. How do we watch the NBA every year and watch teams get worn down after winning a championship and other teams build to counter them and think they’ll cruise to another title when they haven’t proven they can sustain that level of dominance? They keep falling behind and coming back from huge deficits. The Hawks gave them their toughest challenge in the first round. I just saw Knicks fans yesterday trying to explain away a 2-9 stretch after the NBA Cup (when they were worn down). These guys are human and they are not generationally talented. Fatigue will catch them.

Their ego is inflated from playing 2 teams who rolled over and gave up, and a team that peed down their leg when they had chances to win. Not happening this year with any team that isn’t afraid of losing or chokes in the clutch literally every game.

West is weak, the Warriors made no moves, Nuggets are losing talent trending backwards, the Lakers lost talent, the Rockets are a mess offensively and Udoka is going to lose his job after this year, and everyone else is bad (Kings, Pelicans, Grizzlies), inexperienced with deep playoff runs (Blazers, Jazz, Clippers), not talented enough (Suns, Mavericks), and that leaves the Wolves who have horrific bench, the Spurs and Thunder. Thunder and Spurs are going to cruise to the conference finals untouched and be on the doorstep of the LOB getting to play a battered opponent coming out of the East.

If the Knicks go back to back I’ll eat my own shoe.

Because I’m giving context to how I disagree people think the Knicks are overrated because of the run they just went on. Teams look dominant until they don’t. I thought for sure all year the Thunder were repeating and then all of a sudden they get a couple of injuries and run into a bad matchup. And the year before I thought we had it in the bag until the injuries started piling up and we blew it.

Point is, Knicks had a great run but that doesn’t mean anything for next year. They were extremely healthy and their numbers weren’t that of a dominant team. They got hot during the playoffs. So did the 2023 Heat, until their luck ran out. Eventually the Knicks are going to run into a team that gives them trouble.

People gassing them up are prisoner of the moment.

One thing that gets glossed over regarding the Knicks run is the fact that their last 3 opponents were coming off of 7-game series and in the case of the Cavs, back to back 7 game series.

The Knicks obviously deserve credit for taking care of business early, but it’s foolish to pretend that they were getting the best version of the teams that they played.

They were gone regardless, if I recall even during the 23-24 run it was being said we had 3 seasons at best with that roster. I’m just glad we got a ring out of it.

The only surprise to me was JB, but in hindsight even he was bound to be gone eventually.

Owners love it. Most players are making more money because of it. And fanbases love it when they win (once)…and hate it afterward.

Aprons are a “red herring”. It’s about taxes. It’s always been about taxes. The richest of billionaire owners just got caught evading taxes. The owners dislike one thing about the current CBA: taxes.

If Jalen Duren hadn’t sucked in the playoffs, maybe this is a slightly different discussion. But ZERO players are being “squeezed” by this CBA. Peyton Watson and Walker Kessler and Wemby got paid what they wanted. Neemis Queta, John Collins, Tobias Harris, and even KP got paid as valued veterans. Bench dudes are making more money! Ron Harper makes more because of the CBA.

And paying the 24th best player the 7th most money is … not good, long term. That’s the Celtics issue, not the CBA.

Yeah the CBA has an opt-out clause for October 2028, which is roughly the start of the 2028-29 season.

His current contract runs until the 2029-30 season.

It’s hard to say, but the players have been pretty vocal in not liking this CBA.

A lot of guys are getting squeezed on their contracts, a lot are getting salary dumped and it’s become harder to move around in free agency.

I can see the player’s union opting out and pushing for better terms.

Players are guaranteed 51% of bri regardless. They got more bri in exchange for the 2nd apron stuff. The players made out great. It’s mostly fans that get somewhat screwed.
