[Movie Trailer] On this date fourteen years ago, Thunderstruck was released, a real film starring Kevin Durant as himself but losing all his powers to a young OKC basketball fan. Happy 14th anniversary to KD and everyone involved in this production
Now this is offseason posting
I’ll try shitposting. That’s a good trick!
Just gotta find those 14 year anniversaries
I really hope someone saw this movie as a first date and became a couple and now have this as their anniversary.
This is the most wholesome thing I’ve ever seen on reddit
It’s over getoffmydickerson, I have the high ground
Alternate titles for the film in international markets, translated into their literal meanings:
Lmao Thunder Emperor
KD was cultivating his inner energy.
Sounds like something from Lord of the Mysteries.
Some real GetBackers type shit.
Taiwan’s title goes hard
I too was possessed by the Thunder Emperor™️
Vietnam didn’t even try
At least Hungary and Bulgaria kept the pun
bruh tf is Lei Shen doing in the movie???
The kids of this generation need their low budget hoops movie about a kid gaining an NBA player’s ability. Who would be the best option though? I think Giannis would be fun
giannis
kid gets the magical ability not to be called for any offensive fouls and just starts bringing a baseball bat to clear a lane to the basket
Ah, elbowstruck. I’d watch that
subscribe
DraymondStruck: the Jordan Poole story. Except he lost his powers and they didn’t seem to go to anyone in particular.
I genuinely want someone to do a thread on which NBA player suddenly jumped the most in shooting skill since the day Jordan Poole got punched. Paging /u/StrategyTop7612
Some kid gains Draymond’s powers and becomes a pro boxer
Kid becomes a pro sucker puncher, can only land punches outside the ring
It should be ANT except he ignores the kid throughout the entire movie
Plot Twist. The kid was one of his biological sons. 😆
ben simmons but it’s a documentary
JA Morant 🔫🔫
Young Bucks fan gains Giannis’s powers and immediately becomes gambling addict
You just do a shot for shot remake but instead of KD its Shai. Then Thunder fans can joke about the KD version being a Berenstein bears situation
It needs to be a perfect shot for shot remake. This is the director of Big Momma’s House 2 we’re talking about. That’s not a creative vision you want to get in the way of.
You mention the Berenstain bears effect while falling victim to it yourself
No u
I want a Shai version: “I wished I had SGA’s powers, and now a whistle blows whenever anyone comes near me!”
Nvm this is the only change
Aspire, a story about a young boy planting trees with the help of his uncle and an unrelated billionare
Anthony Edwards is the one guy in the league with acting chops right now so I always assume if some movie thing happens in the future it’ll be him.
What acting has he done? Right now I give Kevin Garnett the top spot for best living actor among current and former NBA players.
Both KG and Ant did separate Adam Sandler movies.
Calling Uncut Gems an Adam Sandler movie is definitely correct but makes me feel weird lol
Kid stole ANT’s powers and the kid was actually his biological son he neglected and the kid stole his powers basically for revenge.
Wemby.
It’s a movie about absorbing skills though. Wemby may not even be the most skilled player on his team.
Maybe it could be a body horror movie.
You wish to be like Wemby, but the monkey’s paw curls. Then your skeletal structure starts outgrowing the rest of your body in an attempt to reach his frame. Hilarity ensues.
The Substance, but NBA
That’s actually not a terrible idea for a bleacher report animated skit.
Kawhi please.
I actually thought of a movie idea where a regular guy across the globe (say in China or Japan) got body switched one day with an NBA player.
Then the NBA player has to try to be an office worker with no knowledge, skill and a language barrier, while the regular guy also has to pretend he’s an NBA player while he’s not anywhere close to one skills-wise.
One young fan gains access to Giannis’ Kalshi account and discovers the ability to place bets on nuclear annihilation
I think Jokic would be great. Kid just wants to ride horses but is forced to be great at basketball
I feel like Ant man is the one for this role. Or LaMelo.
Just run up a sequel with KD and cast someone else to play the original kid’s nephew.
“Thunderstruck 2: Rocket Kid” or something like that. The kid teaches the team how to get along. Then he loses his powers, KD regains them and comes back to the squad but they tell him to fuck off, and still win with the nephew and the power of friendship.
Or even better, just keep the original guy and have him be a depressed redditor with a shitty work from home tech job.
It’s definitely Wemby.
Deni Avdija.
Hell no, Giannis is annoying as fuck. His idea of funny is probably farts and boobs. Tons of better options.
Fart jokes in a kids movie?!?!?
That would never work!
That’s not what I meant
Hey farts are always funny
Found adam sandler’s reddit account
He said, fartingly
I’m choosing to take this as a compliment
Waiting for:
Thunderstruck II: My New Chapter.
Thunderstruck Out of My Last Few Teams
Thunderstruck III: The Burner Strikes Back
That arc would be developed into an eventual Thunderstruck III
What about a Thunderstruck and Like Mike shared universe?
That would be most likely a Mandela Effect.
2 Thunder 2 Struck.
Thunderstruck Out: A New Warrior is Born.
Thunderstruck II: Looks Like Lightning Can Strike The Same Place Twice
Thunderstruck II: Electric Türkoğlu
Which occurred after the tragic events of the prequel Thunderstruck III-I: Blown Lead
*Thunderstruck 2: Rocket Man*
I never heard of this movie until right now.
It made $587,211 at the box office…total run lol. Durant said he not act again.
Amazing pull though I can’t help but feel for KD in that moment. Someone straight up using you for content while you’re just trying to move on with your day.
Lmao that shaq chuck scene funny asl
Got a laugh out of me in the trailer, shaqs face was great
Somehow, still a better movie than Space Jam: A New Legacy
So a combination of Like Mike and Space Jam?
One of the movies of all time… The only time I’ve left a movie at a theater was when I saw Thunderstruck.
Cmon it wasn’t that bad and I’m not even a Thunder fan… You should’ve enjoyed it more
Technically they didn’t say they walked out of Thunderstruck. They only said they left a movie at a theater because of Thunderstruck. So it could have been a different movie, and then at some point during that movie they found out about Thunderstruck, which caused them to leave so they could race to their nearest screening of Thunderstruck.
“You should’ve enjoyed it more.”
That’s going in the “I didn’t think about what I just typed” hall of fame.
Criterion 4k release when?
real enjoyable movie, surprised it flopped that badly but it was definitely suited for a nickelodeon tv movie.
It flopped since it was out for only one week across 250 theaters in the US. It lost in the box office that week to a re-release of Singin’ in the Rain on its 8th week.
I have never heard of this movie, but I’m gonna guess that it is Jim Belushi that makes it suck
With movies like Jim Belushi in them, you can’t lose!
I had to do a double take to see in which sub I was in.
You sneaky little film buff
It didn’t even occur to me to check for an On Cinema subreddit! Now I know
It’s one of the best
I’m a dedicated hater but Jim was great in Twin Peaks.
I liked this movie better when it was called Get Out.
The most Oklahoma ass movie ever lmfao
Rookie of the Year, Little Big League, seems like these types of movies just don’t get made anymore.
This movie was so incredibly bad
This was an actual movie? Back when they were trying to make him face of the league.
Great movie
It’d be Luka, and at a McDonalds.
Luka goes full Endgame Thor
Really surprised that’s not a Kevin Hart supporting role.
One of my old coworkers was in this movie as one of the high school basketball players. I thought he was full of shit until I pulled up youtube. I had no interest in watching it though
Above the rim
…was a classic.
What about the sequel rim job?
This movie felt like Kevin Durant happened to have a single free weekend and decided to film an entire movie during it.
I saw this movie in the 90s… it was called rookie of the year.
Except with an added Space Jam thrown in!
“wow”
It’s wild that he solves it by sucking out that kid’s adrenochrome, but fuck that thieving kid
Wtf there are ads on embed youtube videos in the reddit app now?
I still have this on DVD that I didn’t return to the library 13years ago
I wonder how that kid felt when KD left for Golden State
I bought this on Blu-ray when it came out
The kid from this movie went on to voice Ezra in Star Wars Rebels. Good for him.
Idk why but this reminded me of a dream I had last night where KD went back to OKC and wore 7. It was weird.
This is the dumbest slop I’ve ever heard of
They had a movie premier in downtown OKC. The Governor and other local “celebrity” types went to the red carpet occasion.
