He had like multiple around 50 point games that season with 10+ rebounds assists and all were close games, he dropped 50/10/16 vs Denver in a clutch game with 18 points in the 4th

This is why fans are stupid (players included), they see round numbers and bust a nut, people think Westbrook should have won MVP because of 10 rebounds and getting triple doubles, nope the 30 points and 10 assists average while being clutch was the actual top tier numbers, the useless 10 rebounds that he got with Steven Adams boxing out for him were not impactful at all

He’s just clearly leaps and bounds more athletic than everyone on the court.

He’d be standing at the three point line, crash the lane for an offensive board for which big men would bounce off him, not even disrupting his center of mass. He’d pull down the board and it’s off to the races— often beating to the hoop on a one man break the three guys that were originally standing at the three point line with him, who are now backpedaling on transition defense.

Just an athletic monster that could do whatever he wanted on the court from a physical perspective

it is pretty cool that as inflated and ridiculous as stats were in the 60s, the only guys to get 20/20/20 so far have been Wilt, Jokic, and Russ. and two of those guys were on the same team at one point.

This is why we can’t take these people’s opinions at face value. They maybe former players but many of their opinions are demented.

Westbrook having his “best game” by putting up 15 defensive rebounds (to 1 for Adams) on 41% TS on the same day Harden put up 37/3/10 on 83% TS is too on the nose.

I think my love for westbrook is that his upside games were truly GOAT games. 

Best game I have ever seen was that 73 point game from luka. though tbf I have started watching basketball in 2020 so my sample size isnt as big!

Not the best games ever but Klay Thompson I feel like has the widest variety of “unprecedented level of heater” games on NBA history. The 37 point quarter with 13-13 shot attempts, 9-9 3pt attempts and 2-2 fta. The 60 point game in 29 minutes with 11 dribbles to score said 60. Breaking the 3pt record with 14 threes and 52 points in 27 minutes. Starting the game ¹⁰⁄₁₀ from the 3 and scoring 44 points in 27 minutes with a 110 ts.

I would say in actuality the “ best games ever” probably would have to come on the playoffs because that most impacts the odds of winning a championship, the competition is tougher, and the pressure is higher. In terms of a crazy narrative performance and not stats, probably something like Jordan’s flu game, LeBron’s Boston game 6, or Tim Duncan’s 2003 game 6. A crazy stats performance would probably be Damien Illard’s 55/6/10 on 96.8 ts in the playoffs. But in terms of the regular season? There’s a lot to choose from.

There’s the Luka 60/21/10 or 73/10/7 on 91.2ts. The Jokic 30/21/22 or his 56/16/15 on 90ts. There’s Kobe Bryant’s 81 pt game or out scoring the whole Mavericks team with 62. There’s David Robinson’s 71/14/5 or 34/10/10/2/10 game. Michael Jordan’s 69/18/6/4/1 game, Wilt’s 100/25/2 game, Bam’s 83, Hakeem’s 38/17/6/7/12 or 29/18/9/5/11, Wilt’s 100/25/2 or 78/43/1, Emibed’s 71/18/5 in 36 minutes, Harden’s 53/16/17 or 60/10/11/4/1, Dame’s 71/6/6 or Mitchell’s 71/88/11. And this is of course all box score alone, it doesn’t capture how certain dominant preformances might warp their teams scoring ratio even more through things like gravity. A lot of all time level performances throughout history.
