Hi guys! I am wondering how much you fans think is worth tickets to a Celtics game? To be clear I am NOT asking to buy or sell tickets on here. I am not a basketball fan but I am looking at maybe getting tickets for me my bf and my dad (they are both huge basketball fans). My bf has been to nba games in the past as he has many connections in the nba (though none to the Celtics and I am based in MA, we’re long distance). Hes visiting for Christmas and I was thinking of getting tickets to the game on dec 20th (cheapest game I could find in the time frame he’ll be here). It’s 120 per person for the cheapest tickets. Is it worth it? Ik the Christmas season is expensive, so I’m just looking for honest opinions. I noticed it’s almost all resale tickets so maybe the prices will fluctuate?

Edit: new thought, maybe just send my dad and bf to the game? They’re friendly but not close at all. I don’t know if it’d be rly awkward but by that point we’d have been dating for a year so maybe this is a good time to help them bond? Also save a bit of money since I wouldn’t have to get myself a ticket

That’s probably a great price for most sideline balcony seats.

Corner balcony might be able to get a you a better deal.

But it’s getting tougher every year. My tickets go up 14% per year.

At this point I’m mad I signed up again. Lol

I had to call it quits after 10 years. The prices kept going up, Legends access taken away, easy way to convert 3 balcony seats into 1 club seat, and resale getting worse.

Only good thing I can say is my season ticket rep was always on the ball.

I have to sell more than half of them every year to break even, as I don’t have the job or lifestyle to actually afford these things.

Lately I don’t even care as much, so ya, I’ve got buyers regrets this year.

The cheapest is BAL308, so I think it’s more of a middle balcony seat? Do you think it’s worth the experience paying that much and sitting all the way at the edge? I guess I’m just weary of spending a lot of money on something that my bf and dad might feel like “I could’ve just watched this on TV with a better view” yk?

Honestly it’s the experience that counts. I’m a Boston fan in DC so when they come to town I always go. Yes the tv view is better than balcony. The beers at home are cheaper. The food at home is better. But the energy of a live game can’t be matched

There’s plenty of people around here that turn their nose up at the balcony section, mainly because they’re wealthy snobs but in reality there’s not bad seats at the Garden.

The Garden is smaller than a lot of other League venues and the farthest seat back in the Garden is about the halfway point in a place like Chicago, I’m sure MGM is the same.

My dad is def not used to luxury lol but my bf has def had good seats before bc of whoever he knows in the basketball world. I don’t think he’d mind tho. When I talked to him about maybe getting tickets he said no bc of how much it would be around Christmas season.

Does being behind the backboard mean a blocked view? Pls forgive me if I sound stupid 😭

No, it’s just a long view when their on the other side of the court.

You can still see fine, and use the jumbo tron if needed.

My wife gave me this for Christmas a few years ago and it was one of the best gifts I ever got. The game was like 3 days after Christmas when we all had time off from work (we live in NH) and it was a great game.

There’s nuance abound when it comes to buying seats but in your case I see it as worth. Sunday night against Detroit is a good atmosphere, depends if you’re okay with the view. They definitely can and will fluctuate if one or both teams start out hot.

Yeah I was looking for a comment that mentions the matchup. Usually the cheapest tickets are when the celtics have a completely dog-shit opponent but celtics vs pistons should be a great matchup barring any injuries. Actually a great game to pick, are either team on a back to back or something?

I’ve had girls do this for me in the past. They always picked “bad” games so the arena atmosphere was weak because the games were kind of garbage, but I appreciated the sentiment. It looks like it’s the Pistons on ¹²⁄₂₀ so that will actually be a really good game.

I say go for it. It’s thoughtful and will be a good memory building night…way better than a nice steak dinner you’ll forget about in a month.

In the end what you are paying for is a memory, so lean into it, feel the vibes, get some great food, get some trashy food, take pics, get a souvenir, really take in the energy of the crowd and from your bf and your dad,… have an amazing time, and regardless of the score of the game, make it a treasured memory.

$120 is on the cheaper end for Celtics tickets but buying months out means you’re overpaying. Those tickets will be cheaper a few days before the game.
