The #4 is easily identifiable, and I don’t think it’s a leap to assume a Celtics player signed a Celtics hat.
Then it’s just a matter of sorting through the number history and identifying players whose names begin with the letter D.

I am very impressed. I’ve had this for 7 years and it took 6 minutes for reddit to figure it out.
Yeah, I figured someone else would have got it already but I wanted to see if I could find it. Looked like DW. So I googled “celtics number 4 history” and found David Wesley. Found an example of his autograph to confirm. The number made it easy, took like a minute.

The guess of David Wesley by u/Dunky_Brewster sounds good to me, seems to match the letters and timeline, too.
It’s funny that I remember really liking Wesley and then forgot about him until now. Not bad numbers while he was with the Celtics.

Be real with yourself… if your dad was such a huge fan and this was buried in a closet, it’s probably not an authentic game-worn auto. Most likely some cheap kiosk signing at a mall or airport that he picked up on a whim. Don’t get your hopes up for high resale value here.
