With the addition of Klay Thompson, the Miami Heat now have 7 players above 38 3PT% on the team (Portis 46%; THJ 41%; Wiggins 41%; Gardner 41%; Davion Mitchell 41%; Klay 38%; Fontechhio 38%), 2nd in shooting depth in the NBA behind only the Knicks, and 4 players in the top 50 in 3pt%.
Klay Thompson has provided more shooting to a team already stacked with 3pt shooting roleplayers, meant to aid Giannis and Bam in spacing.
Furthermore, every name of this list (barring Gardner) takes at least 3.3 3PA’s a game, and each with 4+ excluding Davion (1).
Giannis Anteteokounmpo is rather famous for creating wide open looks, with two of the top 40 3pt shooters in the NBA coming from his team (Bobby Portis, AJ Green) thanks to a large % of wide open looks. He is actually one of the top space creators in the league, thanks to his gravity in the paint (2).
Why is the conversation around how Miami does not have enough shooters, when every member of the 11-man rotation (Mitchell/Klay/Wiggins/Giannis/Bam | Smith/THJ/Larsson/Jovic/Portis/Fontechhio/Gardner) except Bam, Giannis, and Larsson is a pretty established outside shooter?
