That’s what I came away with during the NBA playoffs too. I think as Wemby matures, he’ll learn to play the percentages rather than go for every block just to tire himself out. He doesn’t need to contest every floater or fadeaway.

People should not underrate how smart Wemby was in year 3 as a 22 year old commanding the Spurs’ defensive rotations and how fast he adapted to an offense’s pattern. It wasn’t solely about him being a crazy athlete.

So real question - and mostly just my ignorance. Them playing overseas like this for qualifiers and things: does this have to go into their nba contracts? Like can the Spurs tell Wemby no he can’t play? Secondly: does playing games full out like this end up allowing EU players a quicker entry back into game play come October? Nah JB shot horribly in the finals at 42%. he shot similarly 30% bad against vassell and Harper. And low 40s against fox, keldon and castle.
I don’t have stats per quarter against each guy but I’m guessing he did a little better than 30% in the 4th quarter.
I’m having a hard time finding vid of wemby affecting JBs shots aside from the makes.
I like Brunson a lot honestly and he had a great playoffs but I’m not sure why people keep bringing up this Wemby vs Brunson matchup because the two hardly matched up 1on1 the entire series.
Also it’s not like he was getting freebies. Brunson had to take some ridiculously difficult uncomfortable shots due to the defense being played- he just made them. Not much you can do against shotmaking like that.
Tbf I’m the only one bringing it up (in poor taste I’ll admit) but it’s the media that keeps showing those high shots over the defense just made me look up if wemby every blocked Brunson in the finals. Couldn’t find anything. Don’t mean too much but just wondering.
Those 3 blocks in the opening minutes of game 5 were disheartening for knicks fans.
Brunson didn’t kept scoring on him until the last game. Moreover, wemby can’t focus on defending him because of the knicks stretch 5 in KAT, and he was more focused in getting rebounds (he was shit in rebounding against KAT and Mitch).
And also..brunson is not very easy to block. And I’d argue SGA is easier to block because brunson is more of a shooter than him. He’s got high-release jump shot. Brunson is also very quick on his feet and very crafty with the ball. Castle can use physicality on SGA but not on brunson.
Yeah can’t find any vid of Brunson getting blocked down low in the finals.
