[Highlight] 6 years ago Luka hits this game winning step back three in overtime.
Even though I watched it live, clips from Covid era will never not feel dystopian.
It’s 2026, everything feels dystopian man
Yeah I was gonna say, seeing the bubble feels a lot less bad than seeing basically everything happening now
I remember in 2020 being in lockdown felt like the end of the world. Now its the actual end of the world and lockdown feels like a happy time
Lets go back to never leaving the house and making sourdough
Speak for yourself Knicks won it all im living the dream
We’re almost a decade away from when everything changed when the virus attacked.
Wow deep bro
For me this was a better time because it was the last time I had hope that people in the US could come together and solve a problem.
I remember thinking if 90+% of people could take this medication to basically eradicate a contagious disease, then that could solve it.
Lol.
Thankfully Canadian. Not that we’re perfect. We’re just not whatever is going on down there in your country.
Also not that it doesn’t affect us too. Just yesterday our prime minister had to walk away from your petulant man baby after trying to talk tariffs lmao. Hopefully yall can do some damage at the mid term elections even tough we all know it won’t be a clean election.
I’m afraid that it doesn’t really matter what happens in each election in the US because the Republican party is just totally crazy and corrupted.
They have been for a good 30+ years, but the staggering rejection of reality and democratic norms by the Republican party is really scary (and that way too many people see nothing wrong with it).
The fact that you’re getting downvoted shouldnt give us much hope
Dude, your prime minister is a joke as much as our leader. Your economic productivity hasn’t had growth in 4 years, your housing price is even more ridiculous than the US, your groceries are more expensive than us, Trudeau was even worse and you got another one elected like him so don’t talk to us about elections. Pot calling the kettle black here.
good bait though, got roped into a political conversation on reddit.
so you are telling me you are not “pure blood”?
Facts, having games during the summer and the finals during fall was definitely a crazy thing to witness
I still forget how late the Finals ended. Freaking October!
No wonder why AD played 36 games the next season.
The double ‘Bang’ call from Mike Breen after Luka hits this game winner makes this clip even much better.
Is there a list of Double Bangs by Mike Breen?
Only other one is Curry’s 2016 game winning shot against OKC, i think.
Mike Breen’s “BANG! BANG!” calls:
So that’s 12 double BANGs in total, with Curry accounting for 3 of them.
Bang inflation since 2024 is crazy.
I wonder if Bangflation is also tied to the economy.
Omg i see, i thought he barely used it. Really wished he had used it on this years finals (OG Anunoby’s tip in for example) since he’s a new yorker
Bang doesn’t really work for a tip though, has to be a proper shot I feel.
I may be wrong about this but the only 2pt bang I know of is Kobe’s buzzer beater vs PHX in OT. Breen only uses it for 3s it seems.
Yeah he confirmed it last year because I think some people were giving him shit for not doing a double bang when Hali hit that last shot in Game 1 of last year’s finals.
I recall! He gave him a bang in game 2 and apologized to hali on air hahaha
I’ve never understood why it even works for a shot. Unless it’s a brick
He basically was going to use the triple bang if jalens shot goes in. He had to pivot very quickly. He basically confirmed he was going to do a triple bang then.
Looking through, the only double bangs in losses are numbers 6 & 9 on this list (nice), both were at the end of the game with a few seconds left
I wonder if he’d do it twice in the same game had those situations ended with another 3 pointer to win, or would he just feel like it’d come of weird hearing it play out on the broadcast
Wrong.
Knicks themselves have at least 3 double bangs
Comment reads like a bot.
That’s just how Europeans speak english lmao
I know his extra weight gives him that big body mass advantage, but this lighter Luka was almost a full step faster and so much more agile. Also younger so that helps. But he just looked so dangerous then.
Lighter and less accumulation of leg injuries
He was playing with a leg injury in this series
He’s plenty lean now, gotta wonder how much is a build up of soft tissue injuries taking some athleticism.
Tell how many summers in the row has it been by now where Luka slims down in the international season only to gain it all back by the end of the year?
I mean he stayed slim this year on the Lakers
He’s been lean and in shape year round since last off season. So last off season where he was on the magazines and so forth, stayed in shape, played throughout the year in shape (the hamstring issues has been bothering him for seasons so good he got proper rest this year), and still in shape now.
Yeah he did use to play him himself into shape, but I think he’s turned a corner with his fitness and conditioning.
Offseason pictures still fooling people 4 years on.
Disagree. Look at photos of him this year vs any of the last couple seasons. He was clearly leaner earlier in his career, and his conditioning was also better.
Dude for a split second I was waiting for “that’s guy” to pass to Luka lmao
bubble was awesome in context
Bubble ball was the BEST basketball, and no one can change my mind about that
No distractions just hooping.
the only thing missing from it imo was the crowd, enjoyed it deeply still
Absolutely correct. Everyone was playing out of their minds. Best you tube bubble highlights. Dame was shooting everything from 40 ft like a free throw.
I always have to ask those who bitch about the bubble if the alternative, a completely cancelled season, would have been better in any universe. It was such a breath of fresh air during the absolute nadir of the lockdown period
Now imagine if Kawhi’s tree planting didn’t happen and this version of Luka didn’t have to face prime PG and Kawhi
the raptors wouldve won it all again
back when they expected a dude to win with THJ, DFS, Kleber, Powell as the starters for most of the series with Trey Burke and Michael Kidd Gilchrist in the bench rotation.
with a healthy porzingis (not a real thing) Luka could have taken them down in 2020. Dont forget the bs ejection in game 1 also.
KP ejection was so soft especially for the playoffs…i still think they would have won the series with a healthy kp
Think this was before Kawhi went on his non-existent tree planting and stadium building and jumbotron expeditions
I’m confused what you mean by this, he obviously made those deals before joining the team?
Clip OP posted is 2020. Kawhis extension wasn’t til 2022 to my knowledge
Ah I see thank you for explaining
Had to go through the math myself for a second lol
Imagine I had wings and a beak and was a bird
Such a crazy game from him, he also hit a rainbow middy fadeaway against Kawhi that game that was so nasty
you’re thinking of a different game from their matchup in 2021
Oh my bad, that whole series was awesome
luka was absolutely unguardable, so fun to watch
White Monster
First team all nba and averaging 28-9-9 in 2nd year is mental
And some say the current Lakers are a 30 win squad lol
Who are these “some”? A few internet trolls or actual analysts? I don’t think I’ve seen anyone call them a 30-win squad lol. They’re certainly not contenders, but they should at least get close to 50 wins.
Imaginary people
Lol, if analysts thought that they should boderline lose their jobs
Who says that. Sounds like a wanna be oppressed lakers fan making up some head canon.
Every Luka post there’s a bunch of pearl clutchers pretending Luka isnt a universally acclaimed player in the league. Saying he’s top 5 will get you attacked.
SGA Joker Wemby Giannis
Its not insane to have them over Luka.
Yea except for every pearl clutcher, there’s a comment calling him dog shit. You can use generalities both ways. It’s not crazy to have those guys over Luka. But also not sacrilege to have him over them.
Whi should’ve guarded him.
Luka hit that over Reggie like he was farming VC. Pandemic crowd noise made it feel like a 2K cutscene.
Pretty fast moves. Unfortunately now in his prime he is much slower
Time flies
Sigh, the good ol’ days
i’m tryna find brunson and i can’t see him smh
Brunson didnt play in the bubble. Trey Burke was the backup PG
Group Economics
Luka was the Clippers’ daddy.
Almost every team in the NBA are dads to the Clippers. Truly a pathetic and criminal organization.
I still hoop in those shoes he has on 🥲
If it wasn’t for the multiple playoff series against Luka, I believe Kawaii’s knees would have held up better in the long run.
still remember where i was when this dropped, covid era was surreal
Trade this man immediately! ~s
I can’t believe this was 6 years ago jeez
And then Nico Harrison saw this and went “nah we don’t need this in our franchise”
Hard to look past the fake crowd noises
The court is horrendous
Will always remember I was watching this with my mom, and as soon as Luka caught it I told her it was over, and she thought I was clairvoyant because she does not know ball
I thought Pat Bev said the next 5 years were his.
Luka moves nothing like this today. Call it age, wear and tear, or whatever
He’s a totally different player in terms of quickness and lateral movement today
The fact that next season will be his 9th season in the league just doesn’t make sense to me. I still see him as a young player
Imagine trading Luka lol
I’m still not over losing him…🥲
And people still say the LeBron era was a failure.😂😂
It’s weird, he’s 27 and just averaged 33 ppg on 61 TS% but somehow it feels like he’s lost a step in his game…
They were so embarrassed to be cooked by him, that after this series they came up with every sore loser excuse possible in the book; even lied and said they didn’t try.
You can clearly tell by their defense they were going balls to the walls and they were pathetic in the way they handled the loss.
Luka on Dallas was something else man. He’s never having moments like this in LA
Back when Luka was still a little bit likable.
Sounds like a you problem buddy.
And when his game wasn’t reliant on foul baiting and complaining to the refs
Man Luka used to be something special
I know injury has played a big part, but he seems to have taken a decent-sized drop since becoming a Laker
Based on what lol? he just averaged 34/8/8 and was averaging almost 40 for a whole month
Yeah and it got him nowhere, he took a worse cast to the finals. Rest of the league caught up, unfortunately Dallas fucked his window and LA has the remnants
