[Highlights] 37-year-old Kobe Bryant scores 6 times on LeBron James in their final duel (with replays). 3/10/2016
Man I hate that we didn’t get to see Kobe’s old man era due to that Achilles injury. It’s wild that as elite as Kobe was for a very long time his career was still cut short
He really was never the same after that. Except when he played us. I remember old man Kobe putting up a triple double on us like it was nothing.
If Bron and Kobe could agree on one thing, it was that the Raps were their playthings.
Yeah for us that grew up on Kobe, 2014 is the actual end of his career. He came back and we’d see flashes of old Mamba here and there but it just wasn’t the same. I was so mad at D12 and Nash at the time because I blamed them for Kobe having to work so hard and overcompensate for their lack of production but now I realize Dwight was dealing with an injury and Nash was washed due to injury at the point so I couldn’t blame them. As for Bron, it was wild seeing you guys be so good for that 2-3 year stretch then having Bron diminish your hopes every year… It almost seemed personal 😂
You should really blame the CP3 veto
Yeah it was wild that Stern vetoed that but turned around and let the Heattles form the following season 😂
Blame D’Antoni one of the most overrated coaches in the NBA trying to do a run and gun offense with an ancient Nash/Kobe, and running Kobe into the ground until he got injured. He still had another 3-5 good seasons left and got robbed.
I agree about D’Antoni… I’m genuinely amazed he got in the hall of fame.
The vino era, before it got cut short, was my favorite. his footwork was GOAT.
If he were on a winning team he’d adjust even after the injury.
Even after the achilles, he came back for 6 games and scored 20+ points on 50% shooting or better in half of them. I think he’d still have had a solid rest of his career, it was following that up with the broken leg (and playing with godawful rosters) that really finished him off.
I’m not sure, he still wasn’t a good teammate and younger player would eventually start calling him out and outplaying him. I feel like Kobe could have become toxic and said corny shit like throwing his rings in other player’s faces. Not to mention his Lakers were never going to be competitive again. Maybe LeBron would’ve teamed up with him… but I doubt it. The pairing would not have been as surprisingly well as Harden and CP3. It would’ve been Russ and KD at best.
Idk what you mean by “good teammate” Kobe is who he has always been and 95% of his teammates even during that time thought highly of him. I watched Kobe my entire life he simply wasn’t the same on the court.
He was just shitty to every rookie and anyone who got attention like Shaq and Jeremy Linn. Yep, good teammate.
CP3 and Rondo were examples of good teammates. Even in Chicago, Rondo was praised and Wade wasn’t.
I mean Kobe was an asshole.. this is well known. Not sure how that it relevant to him falling off after the Achilles.. also why does this sub mention Jeremy Lin so much? Lol
Kobe’s death and corny tweets asking players to channel their inner Kobe really got everyone thinking he was going to age gracefully as a player.
He was a dick to Dwight Howard too. There’s no way he would have aged gracefully and handed the reigns to anyone else.
Imagine the Lakers debating about if Kobe should move to the bench and be a 6th man like Iguodala.
We didn’t even mention his 2011 on court emotional meltdown when he called a ref a F*g on national tv.
Ahhh… There it is. So you have some weird personal gripe against Kobe. Hey, man. However you feel about Kobe leave me out of it.
Kobe was already in decline before the Achilles… He was notably worse after winning his final title in 2010. In fact, you could argue he was notably worse in 2010 already compared to 2009…
That said, he did have a nice ‘bounce back’ season in 2013, i think it was.
Ultimately, his athleticism and body started deteriorating already before the Achilles, he had to rely a lot more on jump shots like Durant does nowadays… He would get hot and have games like this one against The Cavs every now and then, but he was not nearly consistent enough over the whole year. But nobody posts games where he is 6⁄26 out there…
Decline sure, but LeBron’s been declining since his 2019 injury.
Much more slowly due to his adaptability
I need players to work on their mid and post game more man.
Mid range shots are now reserved for superstars only, and demar derozan.
watching the Demar Derozan and LaMarc Gasolridge spurs team felt like the final run of the mid-range specialized team, now it’s 3 ball or perish
Do you somehow miss the last two Finals MVPs who both feasted in the midrange?
Could honestly say last 4 lol. JB is a middy man and Joker makes shots from anywhere on the court. The mid range isn’t as dead as people say it is. Post fades though, I hardly see anymore
Which is why there’s nothing you can really do with someone that has a solid mid, post, 3ball, and athleticism. It’s practically a cheat code.
LeMarc Gasolridge is pure poetry. Love it.
Demar’s play style is gorgeous to watch imo. Footwork is elite. My favourite player growing up
He also was a menace when attacking the rim ( not quite likeTerrence Ross of course but who is? 🤣) . His posters on mozgov and gobert were amazing
Pretty good at driving and dishing too.
If you call carries and travels like the 80-90s
and stop all the constant moving screens
The defense will actually be able to defend ball handlers, they wouldnt’ have to switch everything, there would be less open three poitn shots, less free throws, and thus post ups and middies would be more “efficient” comparitively and make a come back
Also I miss seeing stars personally guarding each other. I get that it’s not optimal for the team most of the time, but that’s what makes the games much more exciting.

You don’t?
Amen.
They both had to know this would be their last time facing each other like this, right?
Yeah Kobe had a whole retirement tour everyone knew.
they loved him like that
The ESPN graphic says it’s the Kobe vs LeBron finale, so unless they thought lakers were making the NBA finals, everyone knew.
The Lakers were one of the worst teams in the NBA at that time, with no chances getting to the playoffs, and it was Kobe’s retirement tour.
So yes.
Yeah, it was a huge deal. Have people already forgotten this?
lol we’re getting old is what this means
2 goats guarding eachother
What do you think the A stands for?
All
Where’s the other one?
Oh brother
Yeah I mean what was Kobe’s TS% VORP and BPM in this video anyway? He fucking sucks
One has the most points scored in nba history and one raped a girl that suddenly stopped cooperating with the trial after payment. I get it.
Virtue signaling sign of a mental disease
Maybe it is just me but i don’t really like the concept of a greatest of all time, as in putting them as a pedestal for those to look up to, as someone whois associated with raping a 19 year old while in the nba.
Sybau
well he was over 50 in 2016
Damn this was a great watch
I must be old. But it’s more pleasing to my eye watching this style of basketball vs modern style. I know the game evolves and it’s more efficient but still
Hibbert was straight ass with the Lakers. He had one lucky/fluke season in Indiana and then floundered in LA
It was absolutely not one lucky fluke season. He was a rock for us through multiple seasons of playoff runs until small ball. Lost all confidence after that
Pero “Hibbert Killer” Antic
That lebron burst was just comical
Even in his last year in the league, Kobe was still schooling prime LeBron in the post and in isolation
6 times for the 6 wins he got out of 22 games vs each other.
He had to win 6 or else Jayden Daniels would have served him up with a cease and desist
LeBron really couldn’t even guard a 37 year old post Achilles Kobe in his last year in the league in the post despite being significantly taller and heavier and people say he’d beat Kobe, let alone, MJ 1 on 1 ☠️
Uhh. Are you aware this game is not the only time they played against each other?
He scored 6 points and lost lmao Kobe couldn’t stop LeBron to save his life . To be fair it looked like after 2013 LeBron wasn’t even trying 80% facing Kobe lead teams and LeBron won all of the matchups 3-0 after 2013 literally effortlessly, LeBron had Kobe dishing out 16 assist 😂
…what? “Their duel” is referring to two people…
Oh shit. I’m stupid asl. It’s wayyy too early for me to be on Reddit. I read that totally wrong.
Cool
LB no bag J 🤣
Imagine how many points he’d have if he did have a bag. Crazy huh.
Not sure if you’re joking or not, but it’s true.
You’d think he’d have more titles given his points. Kareem did 🥳
Not every one is lucky enough to have the GOAT PG drafted to his team
Not everyone is lucky to have Kyrie, Wade, Bosh, Love, Jaylen, Embiid either
I think the GOAT PG and consensus top 10 player all time is better than Kyrie, wade, love, AD. But continue the hate I guess
I will continue. Dude has multiple hall of famers on every team hes been on
Who, besides maybe dirk, hasnt won with a team of Hall of famers?
What does a team accomplish have to do with an individual stat?
And what’s with the all the emojis? Little ass boy.
73% career free throw shooter but leads the league in points is a weird stat
Haha you mad 🫵
Mad about what? Just want to know if I’m wasting my time by responding to a little ass boy. I got my answer. Have a great day.
LeLeadstheleagueinmostpoints
If asked I’m pretty sure LeBron would say that Kobe was just on a heater that night without making excuses.
Loved the Jazz letting him score
He was in pretty deep with Diddy
